2. My next stop is Frampol, Poland. This tiny Jewish town was wiped out by Adolf Hitler in 1939 and still has not been fully rebuilt. There aren't many sites for me to enjoy, but I just wanted to see the town that this Nobel Prize-winning author set a few of his stories.

Answer: Isaac Bashevis Singer

One of Singer's most famous short stories is "Gimpel the Fool," which is about a dimwitted bread maker. Singer also wrote "Yentl the Yeshiva Boy," which was turned into the Hollywood film "Yentl" in 1983.

Frampol is 166 miles (267 kilometers) east of Krakow and 45 miles (72 km) south of Lublin. Frampol was chosen by the Germans during their invasion of Poland because the marketplace looked like a bull's eye from above.
3. After departing Europe, I land in Asia, specifically the city of Gokarna in Nepal. I arrived on Gokarna Aunsi, which is the day Hindus pay their respects to their fathers. Since all the villagers are performing various celebrations, I will just mosey on over to the Gokarna Forest to relax. What would I find at the Gokarna Forest?

Answer: A luxury resort and spa

Deer roam freely in the Gokarna Forest Reserve, stemming from the Hindu myth of the god Shiva. Shiva, the destroyer, disguised himself as a deer and hid himself from the other gods in the region that is now Gokarna. In addition to the deer, monkeys can also be seen running around the forest.

Gokarna Forest was once home to the royal hunting grounds of the Nepalese Royal Family and is 188 hectares in size.

4. I leave Nepal and disembark in a different country, only this time, I have no idea where I am. Although I cannot read them, I notice the signs are in Japanese. It appears this city is famous for its hot springs. I reluctantly check one out, even though I am not a fan. To my surprise, a monkey has decided to join me. What city am I in?

Answer: Beppu

Beppu is the second largest hot spring area in the world, after Yellowstone National Park. The springs were often used to treat injured samurai during war.
5. I arrive in Coober Pedy, Australia, the Opal Capital of the world. A lot of sites here are underground, but I really want to tee it up on the golf course. I am advised by several locals to wait until night to do so. Why are they advising me to wait?

Answer: Because it is too hot during the day

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology says Coober Pedy's average temperature is 81 degrees F/27.5 degrees C. That is not including the intensity of the Australian sun beating down upon you. It turns out golfing at night was more fun since they paint the balls in glow-in-the-dark paint.
6. I land in Gisborne, New Zealand, which claims to be the first city in the world to see the sunrise. I am not a happy camper, as I like to sleep in. But I arise and take a taxi to the Stone Studio, a museum dedicated to this green gemstone.

Answer: Jade

The symbol of the Stone Studio is the Tuatara, which according to Maori legend is the basket of knowledge. All the jade used here is from New Zealand. Gisborne is found on New Zealand's North Island.

7. My next stop is Moshi, Tanzania. Almost all of the activity in this city involves the mountain on which Moshi was built. What mountain can I absorb the beauty of while I am here?

Answer: Mount Kilimanjaro

Kilimanjaro is the highest peak in Africa at 19,341 feet. I was lucky enough to land here before the snow melts, which climate scientists theorize will disappear around 2025.
8. I arrive in Walvis Bay, Namibia where I immediately become smitten with all the sea and maritime activities. In The Raft, possibly the most popular restaurant in Namibia, I am enjoying my catfish dinner, when someone asks me if I know what the word "Walvis" means in Afrikaans. I don't, so I ask her. What does the word "Walvis" mean?

Answer: Whale

Walvis Bay has a rich German and British heritage from the when those nations occupied Namibia in the Scramble for Africa. Walvis Bay played an important role in the colonization of Africa as it was one of a few natural harbors on Africa's West Coast.

Walvis Bay earned its name from the large quantities of plankton and other sea life that attract the Southern right whale and its hunters.
9. My wife is insistent on visiting the Amazon, so we arrive in Tabatinga, Brazil. Although the town is beautiful, we leave immediately before seeing or doing anything. Why have we left so quickly?

Answer: The cocaine trade has made the city incredibly dangerous and crime ridden

Tabatinga was once a center of military operation used by the Portuguese. However, its somewhat isolation and closeness to Colombia have opened a floodgate of cocaine traffickers.
10. After that crazy trip, I decide to just return home to Hazlet, New Jersey, United States. Although not much happens here, it is not unusual to see a celebrity like Bruce Springsteen or Bon Jovi to travel though. Another frequent visitor is the hometown girl, Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola of this popular television program. HINT: Sammi is the only cast member to originate from New Jersey.
