Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. There is a landmark statute of the Jolly Green Giant in front of me. Where am I?

Answer: Blue Earth, Minnesota

At the south end of the Valley of the Jolly, ho, ho, ho, Green Giant is Blue Earth in Minnesota. Erected in 1978, you can see the attraction from I-90.
2. A family reunion resulted in the creation of a vehicle sculpture erected to be in the exact proportions of England's Stonehenge. Where am I?

Answer: Alliance, Nebraska

Carhenge, operated by a group of Alliance citizens, was first imagined by Jim Reinders in 1987. The sculpture (made up of cars) was built to honor his late father.
3. The largest conical Indian burial mound in Ohio is in front of me; it has 102 steps to the top. Where am I?

Answer: Miamisburg, Ohio

While all of the cities mentioned have an Indian burial mound, the Miamisburg Mount is the largest at 65 feet high and 877 in circumference. Fort Ancient has a serpent mound, while Huntsville and Marietta both have conical mounds.
4. I am standing in the highest CITY (not point) in the United States. Where am I?

Answer: Leadville, Colorado

Leadville is an incorporated city in Colorado, located at 10,152 feet. Ridgecrest, California is at 2,392 in the Mohave Desert. Vail, Colorado is 9,067 feet. Lastly, Angel Fire, New Mexico is at 9,030 feet. Some sites might report higher communities, but Leadville is an incorporated city as opposed to a community of houses.
5. On a business convention, I am on a riverboat floating down a 240-mile river with high rise hotels, bars, shops and restaurants on either side of me. Where am I?

Answer: San Antonio, Texas

San Antonio's River Walk, along San Antonio River, is popular with convention traffic all over the US. It is a social scene with all of the requirements for a good time. There are several cities that have attempted to copy the River Walk, but none have been able to achieve the notoriety and the scale of San Antonio.
6. I am in the largest city in a valley known for some of the most productive and versatile agricultural land in the United States. Where am I?

Answer: Sacramento, California

The Central Valley of California is home to the largest area of Class 1 soil in the world. Over 230 crops can be grown in the valley. It is a prominent player in the agricultural market in the world. The largest city in this valley is Sacramento, followed by Fresno, Redding, and Bakersfield.
7. I have just hiked eight miles up a trail to finally arrive at my destination. It is the Le Conte Lodge, and it has no roads leading in. I spent the night last night in the closest city. Where did I lay my head?

Answer: Gatlinburg, Tennessee

Le Conte Lodge is the only hike-in lodge in the Eastern US. Even its supplies have to get packed in. In fact, on one route, you will often see llamas working their way up or down Mt. LeConte with supplies for the next couple of days. Reservations have historically been in high demand.
8. I am in a US state that has Bavarian replica town on one side and a Dutch replica community on another. Where am I?

Answer: Michigan

With Frankenmuth, Michigan in Saginaw County and Holland, Michigan on Lake Michigan, this state offers a glimpse into two cultures far removed from the shores of the US. The Oktoberfest and Tulip festival are two events not to be missed.
9. I am seated in an elegant wooden car headed straight up the side of a mountain. My view is a modern urban city below. When I arrive at the top, I see residences, shops, and restaurants. Operated as a part of the city's transit system, the incline is an integral part of getting around in the city. Where am I?

Answer: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

I am sitting in either the Monongahela or the Duquesne incline in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. While other locations have inclines, they are not a part of the city's transportation system. They usually arrive at or end on another that is primarily a tourist destination.
10. I am standing under the burled arch that represents the finish line of the Iditarod. Where am I?

Answer: Nome, Alaska

The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, which is run annually in the spring, begins in Anchorage and ends in Nome, Alaska every year. It replicates an emergency run by a team of dogs and a driver who raced to bring medicine to Nome for a very sick child.
