Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. For our first stop in our tour of New York City, I tell you to meet me at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Broadway. There, we gaze up at a triangular-shaped skyscraper which was named after the neighborhood that it would call home. It was built in 1902, making it 27 years older than its "Uptown" cousin, the Empire State Building. The question is, which borough are we in?
2. Our next stop through our tour of the five boroughs takes us to Arthur Avenue, an area of the city sometimes referred to by locals as the "real Little Italy". While you munch on a sausage-and-pepper hero, you overhear a tour guide mention that this neighborhood was the birthplace of Dion and the Belmonts and actor Chazz Palminteri. In fact, the tour guide mentions, Palminteri wrote a screenplay to a 1993 film which was loosely based on his experiences growing up in this New York City borough. Which borough is it?
3. Those delicious sausage-and-peppers heroes left us thirsty, so we hop on the subway and head down to the neighborhood of Williamsburg for a pint of craft beer at a famous local brewery. On our walk from the subway to the brewery, we pass by the defunct Domino Sugar Factory as well as Dime Savings Bank. The question is, what borough are we in?
4. Now that our thirst has been quenched, we decide to partake in some of the amazing art that New York City has to offer. We head over to Bedford Avenue, rent a bike, and pedal our way up to Museum Mile. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is our first stop on the Mile. Which borough are we in?
5. Being a die-hard sports fan, you beg me to take you to a home game at the iconic Yankee Stadium. There's just one problem: the Yankees are out of town on a West Coast road trip. Undaunted, I suggest that we head to the location of the Yankees' minor league team and catch a few innings there. You agree, and we head downtown to Whitehall Street and board a large yellow-orange ferry in order to get to this borough.
6. What would a trip to New York City be without a little shopping? However, you inform me that you're running low on cash and can't afford the high-priced labels at Saks Fifth Avenue or Bloomingdale's. No worries, since most outer-borough residents do their shopping at budget-friendly malls and independently run local businesses. We head north and find ourselves on a long boulevard that runs all the way from a neighborhood named Long Island City to another neighborhood named Jamaica. In fact, both the boulevard and the mall are named after the borough that houses them. So which borough are we in?
7. It's already been a long day, but New York City is the city that never sleeps. It just so happens that our favorite band, No Doubt, is headlining a concert at Arthur Ashe Stadium, which is home to the U.S. Open. We catch the 7 train and exit at Willets Point to go see the show. Which borough are we in?
8. It's well past midnight, the perfect time to head over to the sight of a famous bridge that is purported to be haunted by a headless apparition. This ghoulish figure is said to be the ghost of a worker who was decapitated during the construction of the bridge, which eventually opened in 1883. Before mustering up the courage to walk across the bridge at this ungodly hour, you gaze across the East River towards the Manhattan skyline. The question is, which borough are you in?
9. It's been an amazing day of sightseeing in NYC, so we decide to part ways and you head back to your hotel to catch some shuteye before the next day's flight. After a short walk through Grand Army Plaza, you head upstairs, settle into your luxury suite, and look out the window, which offers a breathtaking view of the pond at Central Park. Which borough are you in?
10. It's almost time for your sight-seeing adventure to come to an end, but not before you hail a taxi and ask the driver to take you to the New York City's only international airport, which was named in honor of the 35th President of the United States of America. The question is, which borough are you headed to?
