Answer: Douglas MacArthur

MacArthur made this comment at the time of the Korean war on March 20th 1951. The American military never expected China to enter this war and were dismayed when they eventually did.

Answer: Curtis LeMay

He said this in April 1956. LeMay was the commander of Strategic Air Command. He was a dynamic figure, rarely seen without a cigar.

The General was in fact speaking about Dien Bien Phu, the decisivie Vietnamese victory over the French (1954).

Semichastny was the head of the K.G.B between 1961 and 1967. The K.G.B were the highly feared Russian secret police and secret service.

The two Communist powers that Kissinger was talking of were China and the U.S.S.R. He made this comment during the 1970s by which time relations with both the Russians and the Chinese had improved since the turbulent sixties.

Andropov was speaking in response to the Strategic Defense Initiative which was better known as "Star Wars". He said this on March 27th 1983.He had become Soviet leader in November 1982 following the death of Brezhnev.

Answer: Ronald Reagan

Reagan believed that the only way to beat the Russians was to outspend and out perform them. He made this comment on June 18th 1980.

Margaret Thatcher was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom between 1979 and 1990. Up until February 2003 she remains the nation's only female Prime Minister ever.
