Albert Pike agreed on behalf of the Confederate States to continue their annual payments as promised them by the United States. Various tribes would also be recognized as sovereign nations, nor would they be required to serve outside of Indian Territory.

Answer: Opothleyohola

Opothleyohola fought against Andrew Jackson during the Red Stick war. As a result he had sworn to never raise the hatchet against the government again. He led a large group of Indian men, women and children and what belongings they could carry out of the Indian Nations to the relative safety of Kansas.

General James Blunt with 3,000 men left Fort Gibson and attacked a larger number of confederate under General Douglas cooper at Honey Springs. With twice as many men and on the defensive, the confederates lost the battle. According to Cooper because of the "worthlessness of our ammunition."

The J.R. Williams was attempting to resupply Fort Gibson when Confederate general Stand Watie ambushed it on the Arkansas River, capturing and burning the boat after removing as much of its supplies as they could carry.

While guarding a hay detail north of Fort Gibson, Captain Edgar Barker was surprised by the large Confederate force. Barker responded by ordering anyone with a horse to mount and attempt to break threw the confederate line. A small group managed to do so including Captain Barker. The Black troops were not so lucky; left on their own all but 4 captured men were killed.

Lee's Battery was formed in April 1863, just in time for the fight at Honey Springs. It consisted of three 6-pounder mountain howitzers and one 2.25 rifled gun.
