Most tournament games are restricted to Gold Edition cards, but there are a few games out there that will still let you use any card in the game.
Having said that, I'm still waiting to see the deck that uses Jal-Pur Raiders . . .

Answer: Eagle

The Gold Edition Clans are the Crab, Crane, Dragon, Lion, Mantis, Phoenix, Ratling, Scorpion, Unicorn, and Shadowlands.
Previously, there were also Monk, Monkey, Naga, Ninja, Spirit, and Toturi's Army clans. Things were getting out of hand. Don't even ask me about the Kolat.

3. How many decks do you play with in a game of "Legend of the Five Rings"?

Answer: 2

You play with a green-backed Fate deck and a black-backed Dynasty deck.

There are four methods of winning in "Legend of the Five Rings". You may destroy your opponent's four provinces (Military Victory), you may increase your Family Honor to 40 or more (Honor Victory), you may reduce your opponent's Family Honor to -20 or less (Dishonor Victory), OR you may bring all five Rings into play (Enlightenment Victory).
Out of these four, Military and Honor are easiest, while an Enlightenment Victory is very hard.

Force is used for attacking, and Chi is used for dueling. The Honor Requirement states how high your family honor must be in order to bring this personality into play. In your Event phase, you turn all the cards in your provinces face up. If you have any events show up, they go off - hence the name.
Next, you may take Actions, such as attaching cards. You opponent may take Open actions; you may take Open or Limited Actions.
Next, you may attack any or all of his provinces.
Finally, you may purchase any or all of the Dynasty cards in your provinces, so long as your gold holds out. Thus, it is called the Dynasty phase.
In your first few turns, it's better to buy gold than personalities. Trust me on this.

Follower cards all come with an honor requirement, which means that only a personality with that level of personal honor or higher can attach them. (Some, though, have a requirement of "-", and anyone can attach them.)
Buying a personality of your clan at full price will let you add their personal honor to your family honor. Many an honor victory has been won by buying several people per turn at full price.
And finally, at least one card, the sword called Honorable, gives its personality a force and chi bonus equal to the personality's personal honor.

If you pay the full 8 gold, you can add the personality's personal honor to your family honor. However, you have a choice to pay up to 2 less gold for the personality. This only works if the personality is a member of your clan, and you do NOT gain the personal honor.
An old Mantis Clan stronghold used to allow you to sacrifice honor for gold, but that was a special ability limited to them.
