Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Only one Class card can immediately win ties in combat. Which one is it?

Answer: Warrior

The Warrior is one of only four original Classes; there are twelve total Class cards in the original game. Players can have one Class at a time unless they also happen to be a Super Munchkin, in which case they can have two at the same time. The Warrior, aside from winning all ties in battle (even if added into another player's combat) has the ability to Berserk.

This means that the Warrior player can discard cards (to a maximum of three) to get one extra bonus damage against enemies (one per card discarded, that is).
2. Which class has the Turning ability during combat?

Answer: Cleric

The Cleric is a healer-type Class which, like the other Class options, can wield specific weapons and has bonuses against particular enemies. There are, however, additional bonuses to be found with the Cleric. For example, the Cleric has the Turning ability with which they can gain a maximum nine bonus damage against undead enemies (three damage per discard).

The Cleric also has the Resurrection spell with which they can take the top card(s) from the discard pile and dispose of a card in their hand rather than draw from the main decks face-up.
3. A player with an Elf Race card in play can do which of these things if they assist a player in battle?

Answer: Go up a level

There are only three different Races available in the original version of "Munchkin" and the Elf is certainly a useful option. Aside from having a plus one bonus to fleeing strong enemies in battle, the Elf also receives a bonus for helping opponents fight. If an Elf is asked to assist in combat for any reason and it is not their own, they will receive a level to add to their tally. All other Races in the game will not receive an extra level unless they have a card that says otherwise.
4. Up to how many cards can you have in your hand if you are a Dwarf?

Answer: Six

Dwarves are yet another of the three Races of the game (the others being Elf and Halfling). As a Dwarf you are capable of carrying multiple Big Items (while others can only carry one). These are often two-handed yet more powerful than single-handed, smaller items. Dwarves also have higher card-carrying capacities; they can carry six at any given time while regular players can only handle five. If a player has too many cards, they must give one to the lowest-level player and discard the rest. If they are the lowest level, they simply discard the proper amount.
5. The Super Munchkin card allows a player to posses two Classes. What card allows for a player to have two Races?

Answer: Half-Breed

The Half-Breed card allows a player, provided they have more than one Race card to put into play, to make use of both different races, taking on the perks and disadvantages of both in battle. This may also allow a player to use Race-specific weapons that would normally be unusable (without a Cheat card). If a player only has one Race card, they can become a Half-Race until they have a second card.

This entitles them to have all of the perks of that single Race without any of the disadvantages.

For example, you can use that Race's weapons without taking extra damage from certain enemies. Losing your Race will cause you to lose the entire set of Races attached to your character.
6. Which of these monsters is a Level 20 creature?

Answer: Plutonium Dragon

The Plutonium Dragon is one of the strongest creatures in the original "Munchkin" due to its immensely high level. It can only be bested by the most well-equipped players since it is Level 20. Other enemies in this version of the game only match up to Level 18 (Squidzilla, for instance, and the Bullrog).

The Plutonium Dragon can only be fought by players Level 6 or above and, due to its strength, will reward two levels and five treasures if defeated. Should you fall to the creature and be unable to run away, you will be killed, just like that. Floating Nose is a Level 10 enemy, the Unspeakably Awful Indescribable Horror is Level 14, and the Potted Plant is Level 1...clearly not as strong as a dragon.
7. What happens if you defeat a Large Angry Chicken with a fire weapon?

Answer: You gain an extra level

The Large Angry Chicken is only a Level 2 creature, but like many others, the possibilities expand in battle. If you defeat this creature by normal means, you'll receive a level and a single treasure but if you defeat it with an item that uses fire (eg. Flaming Armor) you'll receive an additional level. Fried chicken?
Although many low-level enemies can be fairly straight-forward to defeat, other players can up their power through the use of magical items forcing players to face some fairly bad consequences.
8. Curse! What happens when you have the 'Chicken on Your Head' Curse attached to your character?

Answer: You get -1 to die rolls

Curses can be spontaneous and game-changing. The 'Chicken on Your Head' is kind of cute - the player who has this Curse placed upon them will have -1 to die rolls which could make or break an escape from a strong creature. If your headgear is removed for any reason, for example another Curse, then you will lose the chicken.

There other means of losing curses though (from items to special races from later expansions) which may save players from harm...at a cost.
9. Which one of these Treasure items is worth the most money?

Answer: Pollymorph Potion

The Pollymorph Potion is the original game's most expensive item, probably due to the fact that its power is fairly immense. When used in battle, the potion will instantly turn a monster to a parrot, forcing it to leave the battle (without giving a level) but leaving its treasures behind.

It sells for 1,300 Gold: enough for a full level (and then some). Wishing Rings have the ability to remove a curse on your character but they only cost 500 Gold. The Loaded Die, at 300 Gold, allows the player to choose what their next die roll is, and the Potion of Idiotic Bravery gives +2 to either side in battle (and it costs 100 Gold).
10. The Staff of Napalm is the weapon with the strongest bonus in the original "Munchkin". Without a Cheat card, it can only be used by which of the following?

Answer: Wizard

The Staff of Napalm gives a +5 bonus while all other proper weapons give +4 or less. The catch, however, is that you must play as a Wizard and, should you lose that Class, you will lose the weapon. At a cost of 800 Gold, the item is a great addition to any arsenal. Most larger weapons have a restriction of some sort to balance out their pros and cons. The Staff of Napalm is also a one-handed weapon meaning that a player can use another weapon if they come across one. With a Cheat card, any player can use this weapon.

The only other Wizard-exclusive item is the Pointy Hat of Power-- it gives a +3 bonus as a Headgear item and is worth 400 Gold.
