What method have I decided to have my egg cooked? Hint

Question 2 of 10

On the whole though, they are delicious. How have these eggs been prepared? Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. As I finish my plate, I am already eager to order the next egg based dish. I want something a little different so I order something that has many delicious ingredients. I ask the chef to mix the egg whites with some green peppers, onions, some sausage, and cheddar cheese. When it is finished cooking, it gets folded in half and it is ready for me to eat. What have I ordered for my next dish? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. For my first eggcelent dish, I will start will something simple. I can simply eat this egg with my hands which is pretty convenient. Another plus is when I crack the shell of the egg, it isn't gooey like it would be if it was raw. Even the yolk stays solid and isn't runny. I also enjoy a nice sprinkle of salt on my egg. What method have I decided to have my egg cooked?

Answer: Hard-Boiled

To hard boil an egg is as simple as it sounds. Simply boil up a pot of water, add the desired number of eggs (still in their shells), and boil for about 10 minutes. Then when the eggs are done cooking, throw the eggs in a bowl of cold water, crack the shells and peel them off. The whole of the egg should be solid. Boiled eggs do have a funny smell, but are quite tasty.
2. My first egg was delicious, but I am hungry for more. The next dish seems to look like a traditional breakfast plate. I have pancakes, bacon, hash browns, and of course eggs. The way these eggs were prepared though, it seems like the cook mutilated them and they don't even resemble what the inside of an egg looks like. It looks like a jumbled yellow mess. On the whole though, they are delicious. How have these eggs been prepared?

Answer: Scrambled

To people who are novices at cooking, scrambled eggs are by far some of the easiest. All you really have to do is crack a few eggs into a pan and whisk them while they cook. You should end up with nice fluffy bits of egg. If you want, you can spruce up the eggs with cheese!
3. Another dish that qualifies as finger food, these eggs resemble hard boiled eggs, but cut in half. Instead of the yolk, there seems to be a creamy filling in the middle instead. What type of egg am I eating now?

Answer: Deviled

Deviled eggs are also known as eggs mimosa and usually the yolk is scooped out and mixed with other ingredients. Most commonly the yolk is mixed with mayonnaise and mustard. Recipes for deviled eggs can be traced as far back as ancient Rome.
4. I find myself still hungry so I order yet another breakfast plate. This time I get toast with my order which is good because I want to dip my toast in the runny egg yolk. My eggs look like the stereotypical image when someone thinks of a cooked egg. The yolk sits on top of the the egg whites. How has the cook prepared my eggs this time?

Answer: Sunny Side Up

My favorite way to prepare eggs, sunny side up is fairly easy. Carefully crack an egg in a pan and cook until the whites are set, but the yolk is still runny. Breaking the yolk open and dipping your toast in it is quite tasty.

Answer: Omelet

Omelets are a great option for any breakfast because there are a vast number of toppings you can add to make unique and delicious. There even exist "build your own omelet" bars where you can customize your own omelet. A popular choice is a Denver omelet which usually contains peppers, onions and ham.
6. I'm starting to get filled up, but I am hungry for more eggs, so I ask the cook to rustle me up another egg dish. This dish is somewhat of an "egg pie". The eggs are mixed with some cheese and I have a hankering for some spinach mixed in as well. The mixture is then served in a pie crust. What is this egg based dish I just ordered?

Answer: Quiche

Quiches have just as much variety as omelets and you can customize the ingredients in your quiche to make it unique. Quiche Lorraine is a popular type of quiche in France that contains many delicious ingredients, in cluding onions, bacon, and a custard base in the crust.
7. I'm getting a little full, but there is still more ways to prepare an egg that I haven't tried. An interesting method of preparing eggs has caught my eye as I see one of the ways to have my eggs is by shirring them. How do you "shirr" an egg?

Answer: Bake it

Shirred eggs originally got their name from the dish in which they were originally baked. Now they are usually cooked in a flat-bottomed dish called a ramekin. The egg is cooked out of shell in the ramekin until the whites set and the yolk has thickened.
8. I feel in the mood for one of my favorite egg dishes known as Eggs Benedict. Consisting of two poached eggs over bacon or ham and on top of two halves of an English muffin, this dish is very tasty. There is also a creamy sauce that is drizzled over the entire dish. What is this sauce that Eggs Benedict is famous for having?

Answer: Hollandaise

Hollandaise sauce is an emulsion made from egg yolks mixed with melted butter and usually seasoned with lemon juice, salt, and pepper. The other three sauces are all different french sauces. Bechamel is a roux, meaning it's a white sauce made from butter mixed with flour. Bernaise is another emulsion considered to be the "child" sauce of Hollandaise. Rouille is an olive oil based sauce.
9. As I hit the "food wall" I realize that I am quite parched and since it is the holiday season, I decide to have a glass of eggnog, an interesting beverage made with milk, cream, and sugar along with whipped eggs for a nice frothy texture. There is also a taste of a delicious spice in my eggnog. What spice most often garnishes the top of eggnog?

Answer: Nutmeg

Eggnog is a very popular drink around the holidays and can be served with spirits such as rum and bourbon or can be non-alcoholic. Cinnamon can also be used as a garnish to eggnog, but nutmeg is the most common garnish to add.
10. With my stomach stuffed to the brim with eggs, I pay my check for the delicious meal and thank the cook for the food. He strikes up a conversation with me about my love for eggs and regales me with a story of his trip to China and the interesting egg cuisine they have. He tells me of a rather unusual dish that consist of eggs that are preserved for a long time. The way he describes them sound repulsive and I can't even fathom eating anything like that. What is the name of this delicacy with a specific period of time in the name?

Answer: Century Eggs

Century eggs are a very unusual dish that usually consist of duck, chicken, or quail eggs. The eggs are preserved in a mixture of salt, clay, quicklime, and rice husks and the process can take anywhere from a few weeks to months depending on the method of preserving.

The result gives the yolk a dark green/grayish color and the whites transform into a brown translucent jelly. Quite a delicacy in China, but I wouldn't eat one anytime soon.
