A beignet is a deep-fried choux pastry which originated from France. Churro is a thin Spanish pastry snack, deep-fried and served with a chocolate dipping sauce.
2. Ikebana, oasis, tussie-mussie

Ikebana, oasis and tussie-mussie are all words associated with the craft of flower-arranging. Ikebana is a form of Japanese flower arranging which emphasises balance, harmony and form. Oasis is a green dry foam which people use to place their flower stems to create a floral design. Tussie-mussie is an old Victorian term to describe a small bouquet of herbs and flowers with special meaning.
3. Bughouse, gambit, algebraic notation

Answer: Chess

Bughouse, gambit and algebraic notation are all words associated with the game of chess. Bughouse is a variant of a standard game of chess which uses two game boards instead of one, and four players instead of two. A gambit is an opening chess move when the player risks one of his/her pieces in the hope of gaining further ground. An algebraic notation is a way of writing down the different chess moves, such as "Be5" (move a bishop to square e5).
4. Aida, bargello, notions

Answer: Needlework

Aida, bargello and notions all relate to needlework. Aida is a universal open-weave fabric used in cross-stitching. Bargello is a type of needlepoint which uses straight stitches in a distinctive zig-zag design. Notions are the supplies used to finish off sewing projects, including buttons, zips, ribbons, hooks and eyes.
5. Bulb, fisheye, pinhole

Answer: Photography

Bulb, fisheye and pinhole are words synonymous with photography. A bulb, or flash, is used to add artificial light to darkened subject matter. A fisheye is a type of wide-angled lens which gives a curved and distorted image. A pinhole is a basic camera without a lens.

It uses a pinhole opening on the side of a box which creates an upside down image onto the back of the interior of the box.
6. Contrology, magic circle, powerhouse

Answer: Exercise

Pilates is a type of fitness and exercise method which uses the terms contrology, magic circle and powerhouse. Contrology was the name used by Joseph Pilates when he first developed the programme through his 1945 book, "Return to Life through Contrology". Magic circle is a piece of equipment, similar in design to a small hula-hoop, which allows the user to tone and improve muscle strength. Powerhouse is used to describe the centre, or core, of your body where all movements should start.
7. Provenance, backstamp, hallmark

Answer: Collectibles

Provenance, backstamp and hallmark is terminology used by antique collectors. Provenance determines the ownership, custody or location of a certain item. For example, a normal coat would not fetch much at an auction, but if it was linked to a famous movie star who portrayed a famous film character then it would be valued much higher. Backstamp and hallmark are both methods of marking a piece of silver, gold, porcelain, china or furniture by the maker.
8. Chitting, grafting, NPK

Answer: Gardening

Chitting, grafting and NPK are terms associated with gardening. Chitting is a way of allowing potatoes to sprout before they are planted, sometimes in a dry container such as an egg box. Grafting is when two plant stems from the same species, such as from roses or fruit trees, are combined to make a new variety.

These new plants tend to be more hardy and disease tolerant. NPK is a fertiliser with a mixture containing nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium.
9. Guy line, rainfly, bivouac

Answer: Camping

Camping is a popular outdoor activity. A guy line is a cord which is used to tether the tent to the ground, stopping its movement and making it stable. A rainfly is the outer layer or flap of a tent, sometimes with a zip, which protects the tent from rain and wind. A bivouac is a style of tent, or a term used to describe an improvised camp ground used by hikers or the army.
10. Cusp, elements, houses

Answer: Astrology

Cusp, elements and houses are words associated with astrology. The cusp is an imaginary line which divides the different houses, or signs, of the zodiac. For example, if you were born between April 19th to April 23rd, you would be on the cusp of both Aries and Taurus, with both signs influencing your personal traits.

The elements in astrology include fire, air, water and earth. Fire signs include Aries, Leo and Sagittarius. Air signs include Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. Water signs include Cancer and Scorpio and Pisces. Earth signs include Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn.
