Answer: Jersey Mike's

Jersey Mike's Subs was first established in the beach town of Point Pleasant, New Jersey in 1956, making it the oldest chain in this quiz. Jersey Mike's has since opened more than 1,500 stores nationwide. Jersey Mike's main headquarters is located in the city of Manasquan, New Jersey, north of Point Pleasant. Jersey Mike's still operates a training center in Point Pleasant as well.

Blimpie was first established in 1964. The founders of Blimpie saw the success of Jersey Mike's and decided to open a franchise of their own in the city of Hoboken in northern New Jersey. Blimpie had opened more than 2,000 stores nationwide, however their success did not match Jersey Mike's and the franchise's presence has diminished since 2002. Ownership of the brand has changed hands several times in recent years.

Arby's is an American fast food chain that is known for their roast beef sandwiches. The chain was founded in Boardman, Ohio in 1964. Arby's currently operates more than 3,000 locations nationwide. Arby's logo consists of the company name placed inside the outline of a large cowboy hat like the one in the photograph. Arby's has since expanded their menu to include other items, claiming that "they have the meats".

Answer: Subway

The Subway franchise began in the city of Bridgeport, Connecticut as Pete's Super Submarines in 1965. It is now one of the largest and most recognizable sandwich chains in the world, with more than 42,000 restaurants worldwide. The chain was known for its $5 foot long sandwiches and its famous spokesperson Jared Fogle (before getting into legal trouble), who lost 200 pounds eating nothing but Subway sandwiches.

Answer: Austin, Texas

The Schlotzsky's sandwich chain was first established in Austin, Texas in 1971. Schlotzsky's at its prime had more than 700 restaurants opened nationwide. However, success of the company weakened and Schlotzsky's was sold off to Focus Brands, a company that has also acquired other American food franchises such as Cinnabon and Moe's Southwest Grill.

Quiznos was founded in 1981 in the city of Denver, Colorado. At one time, Quiznos was the second largest sandwich chain in the United States behind Subway with more than 5,000 locations nationwide. However, starting around 2007 the chain's popularity has been significantly diminished. Quiznos was known for toasting their buns, which was incorporated into the company's slogan, "Mmmm... Toasty".

The Jimmy John's franchise was first established in 1983 by entrepreneur Jimmy John Liautaud in the city of Champaign, Illinois. The Jimmy John's logo features two red J's as depicted in the photograph featuring two red Jack cards. Since 2010, former UFC and WWE Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar has competed wearing trunks that featured the Jimmy John's logo. Jimmy John's currently operates more than 2,800 locations nationwide.

The Panera Bread Company began as the The St. Louis Bread Company in 1987. In 1993 they were acquired by another American sandwich chain named Au Bon Pain and were renamed Panera in 1997. The Atlanta Bread Company was established in Sandy Springs, Georgia (a suburb of Atlanta) in 1993. The relatively young franchise had grown to more than 170 locations nationwide, but had begun to decline due to both the struggling national economy and legal issues involving the company's leaders. Firehouse Subs was first established in Jacksonville, Florida in 1994. The franchise was the brainchild of two former Jacksonville firefighters.
