Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these can the color of an apple indicate?

Answer: whether the apple is ripe

The color of the apple is based on how ripe it is when it is picked. Apples start out as green; the reason apples are green is because it contains chlorophyll, a green pigment. Then apples turn different colors based on the other pigments in the apple. However, apples with brown on them are not ripe. The brown indicates either a bruise or a rotten apple.

He chose Aphrodite and according to legend, it was him choosing Aphrodite over Helen that caused the Trojan War to begin. Eris's Roman equivalent is Discordia, hence the phrase "apple of discord".
3. Is it possible to die from apple seeds?

Answer: Yes

Apple seeds contain a type of poison called cyanide which can be dangerous and even lethal. Eating a few apple seeds is not dangerous. However, eating a lot of them can kill someone. The reason eating a few isn't all that bad is because, the cyanide that is being released is usually in small enough doses that it either passes through the digestive system or the body can combat it.
