Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I'm playing Cluedo and I've narrowed down my suspects to one: Miss Scarlett definitely killed Dr Black. Which of these combinations of rooms and weapons is a possibility?

Answer: In the kitchen with a spanner.

As the party was taking place downstairs, there is no bedroom on the game board. The drawing room, hammer, rifle, and Swiss Army Knife are also absent in this version of the game.
2. I have a sneaking suspicion that Dr Black was murdered in the lounge. Which of these characters is a potential culprit in Cluedo?

Answer: Professor Plum with the revolver.

Captain Brown appeared in the 1986 Super Cluedo Challenge, but he wasn't at the mansion in this edition of the game. There is a secret passageway from the lounge to the conservatory - it was almost certainly used for a clean getaway!
3. I know who did it! It was Mrs White! Three of these combinations are not possible in the game, however. Where could the murder have taken place?

Answer: In the dining room with the candlestick.

Mrs White is the cook, as demonstrated by the cook's cap she is wearing on her card. Maybe Dr Black complained about her cooking? While I'm sure the mansion has quite expansive grounds, the garden isn't a viable room in Cluedo. The mansion also lacks a drawing room.
4. The detective next to you thinks it was Reverend Green in the billiard room with a cue. She's made one fatal mistake. What is it?

Answer: There's no billiard cue in Cluedo.

While cue sticks can be used as a weapon (as demonstrated in 'Shaun of the Dead'), they are not one of the weapons in Cluedo. Reverend Green is a suspect, and the billiard room is a real place.
5. That looks like a gunshot wound! In Cluedo, is it possible that Dr Black shot himself?

Answer: No

Suicide - whether accidental or not - is not an option in Cluedo. There are three cards in the centre of the board: one weapon, one room, and one suspect. Dr Black is not one of those suspects. Even though the gun is called the 'revolver', the picture on the card shows a gun without a revolving chamber.

The miniature gun in the original game looked the same as it does on the card - it doesn't have a revolving chamber either.
6. I'm pretty sure Dr Black was murdered in the study. According to the rules and pieces of the game, how could it have happened?

Answer: Colonel Mustard stabbed him with a dagger.

Madame Rose appears in some American versions of Cluedo (called Clue). She's also a suspect in a British version, but under a different name. Unfortunately, this mystical fortune teller was not at the original party, so she's not a suspect for Dr Black's murder. Poison isn't a weapon in Cluedo, though it was one of the weapons originally proposed by Anthony E. Pratt, the creator of the game.
7. The weapon is uncovered! Dr Black was strangled with the rope. But who had the physical strength to do this, and where in the house could the murder have taken place? (Three of these combinations are not possible in Cluedo.)

Answer: Miss Scarlett in the conservatory.

A larder is a cool room for storing food, but the mansion doesn't seem to have one. Master Teal was not an invited guest and isn't actually a real character, so he's not a suspect here.
8. The murder took place in the library with the lead pipe. Which of these names could be the main suspect in Cluedo?

Answer: Mrs Peacock

Nurse White was one of the characters Anthony E. Pratt created, but her name was changed to Mrs White and she became the cook. Doctor Grey and Mr Rose aren't real characters, so there's no reason to believe they committed the murder.
9. Dr Black's body was found in the cellar. Is it possible he was murdered in there?

Answer: No, his body was moved there after the deed was done.

Dr Black's body was found in the cellar, but the cellar is not one of the room cards in the game. The cellar is in the centre of the game board, but players can't enter it. The murder cards are placed on top.
10. Dr Black was hit with a blunt instrument. I think it was the spanner... but where could this have happened, according to the rules and pieces of the game?

Answer: In the hall by Reverend Green.

The greenhouse and the garden aren't real places in the mansion. Master Teal and Doctor Gray aren't real suspects either. The original Cluedo came in a black box with a large red fingerprint over the name. The same red fingerprint is also on the back of the original cards.
