1. What was the name of the place that the Norse gods inhabited?

Answer: Asgard

Asgard is home to the Norse gods. They each have a great hall, the greatest being Valhalla which deceased heroes inhabit. Midgard is the Norse name for the earth that mankind inhabits. Alfheim is the land of the light elves, as well as the god Freya. Niflheim is the lowest level of the Norse universe and it is classed as the Norse underworld.
2. Who was the Norse god of death, wisdom and magic?

Answer: Odin

Odin is the father of the Norse gods. Odin has only one eye, he traded his other eye for a drink from the well of wisdom, and gained immense knowledge.
3. What was the name of Odin's wife?

Answer: Frigg

Frigg is the foremost Norse goddess and represents marriage and motherhood. She is also said to know every person's destiny but has never revealed it to anyone.
4. What was the item that killed the god Balder?

Answer: Mistletoe

Balder was killed by Hother, who was actually tricked into the act by Loki. Balder's mother Frigg tried to protect her son from death by making an oath with all things, but she left out the mistletoe as she felt it was too young to make the oath. Loki discovered this and plucked the plant. Loki then gave the plant to Hother (who is blind) and directed his throw.

The dart of mistletoe immediately killed Balder. Loki is seen as the villain.
5. Who was the Norse god of mischief?

Answer: Loki

Loki is the foster brother of Odin. Loki is half divine, half demonic. He is seen as a dangerous ally for the Norse gods but never the less they tolerated him. Loki fathered Fenrir who later killed Odin in battle.
6. The name given to the mighty tree at the centre of the Norse universe was Yggdrasill.

Yggdrasill connects the upper, middle and lower levels of the Norse universe. It is sometimes referred to as Odin's steed. At the foot of the tree is a well, which is the greatest source of wisdom.

Thor is probably the most famous Norse god, his name literally means thunder.
8. Thor wielded a hammer, but what was its name?

Answer: Mjollnir

Mjollnir was created for Thor by Brokk and Eitri who made it as part of a bet with Loki. Sigurd was the name of a Norse hero. Verse Edda is the name of a poem about Loki in which he insults all the other Norse gods. Mistilteinn is the Norse word for mistletoe.
9. What did Freya represent?

Answer: Love

Frey, Freya's brother, represents fertility. Idun is the keeper of the apples of immortality. Njord, Frey and Freya's father is the Norse god of prosperity as well as the god of the sea and fishing.
10. Who ruled in the realm of the ungodly?

Answer: Hel

Hel, the goddess of death and the underworld, is one of the three children of Loki and Angrbooa. The other two are Fenrir (the wolf who is foretold to kill Odin during Ragnarok) and Jormungandr (the sea serpent that encircles the world, holding its own tail in its mouth).
