Answer: Iapetus

Prometheus is the son of Iapetus. The Grandson of Ocean and the great grandson of Uranus and Gaea.
2. In the war between Cronus and Zeus, Prometheus originally sided with Cronus. He told Cronus to release the ____________ to aid in the war. However Cronus refused and Prometheus took his advice elsewhere.

Answer: Cyclops and Hecatonchires

Prometheus told Cronus to release his brothers, the hideous Cyclops and Hecatonchires, from their prisons to defeat Zeus. However Cronus refused, so Prometheus sided with Zeus and offered the same advice, which Zeus reluctantly followed. With his new allies, Zeus defeated Cronus and became King of the Gods. Among these were the Hecatonchires Cottos, Gyas and Biareos, noted for having fifty heads a piece and a hundred hands, who forged thunder and lightning for Zeus to use as his weapons.

He then made birds and small mammals. He then desired to make an animals in the likeness of the gods which could think. At his first attempts he failed and made monkeys and other apes. But he eventually succeeded and made humans. And into man he put specs of all other animals he had made.

When Prometheus first made man, he gave them knowledge of the future and men saw suffering, disease and death. So he stripped them of this knowledge and filled their hearts with a blind hope and they were gay and merry. He then gathered up sorrow, pain, fear and other things that would harm man and placed them in a box.

He gave that box eventually to brother Epimetheus for safekeeping. So Zeus, trying to get back at Prometheus for taking fire from Mount Olympus and giving it to humans, ordered Hephaistos to build a women and to give that women, named Pandora or all gifts, to Epimetheus. Epimetheus wedded her and shortly after, while Epimetheus wasn't looking, Pandora opened the box which contained human suffering and let it loose upon the world.

So he lit a stick on fire in Olympus and brought the flame down to earth.

He then taught man to cook with it, to use it for heat, light, and to make bricks with it. He then taught them about arithmetic and the stars and other wondrous things.

Prometheus cut up the animal which was caught and put the tidbits into its bladder, which he wrapped in the rough hide of the animal.

He then put all of the bones in a bundle and wrapped fat around the bones. He ask Zeus to pick which portion he would have, knowing full well that Zeus loved fat. Zeus picked the bones wrapped in fat.

When he opened the bundle he was furious but having already of chosen, he could not take back his decision.

Zeus fell in love with Io and lusted for her, Hera seeing this was jealous of Io. Zeus wishing to seduce Io without his wife's knowledge, went down to earth and shrouded everything with a great cloud.

Hera suspected Zeus and went down to earth and called away the cloud. Zeus quickly turned Io into a cow and explained to Hera that he was simply sitting when this cow sprang to life from the earth.

Hera asked for the cow and Zeus, not wishing to be caught, gave it to her. She then entrusted the cow to Argus' watch. However under the orders of Zeus, Hermes killed Argus. Hera then sent a gad-fly to plague Io, and this is what drove her to madness.
