But due to the reliability of the clock, all the elderly in Derry knew that something was wrong when it did not chime in 1985. Mr. Keene, then 93, said "Those kids. What is it with them damn kids? What are they monkeying around with this time?", giving the idea that the people in Derry really did know what was going on. Mr. Keene even admitted to Mike that he had seen the clown the day the Bradley Gang was killed.

They all knew, but never tried to stop it.
