Richie says this to the group after performing a smoke-hole ritual to discover the origins of Pennywise (known to the children as "It"). Richie asks them if anyone is going to back down from trying to stop Pennywise... and no one does.

Ben starts a conversation with Mrs. Starrett, the local librarian after being dismissed from school for the summer. She asks him how summer's going, and if he's bored yet, to which he gives this reply.

Bill, also known as Stuttering Bill (due to a stutter he received after being hit by a car), goes with Richie Tozier to an old house on Neibolt Street, where they encounter Pennywise and attempt to kill the monster with a pistol. They slightly wound It before fleeing the area.

In August of 1958, Henry, Belch, and Victor follow the Losers' Club into the sewers, where they plan to kill It. Henry and company, however, do not know about this. They encounter It, who takes the form of Frankenstein's monster. It decapitates Victor and rips off half of Belch's face, while Henry runs away, leaving them to die.

George runs down Jackson Street during a downpour, following his paper boat in the gutter. The boat goes into a storm drain, where It, as Pennywise the Dancing Clown, waits and tries to lure George in with promises of a circus, food, and finally the offer of a balloon. George asks if the balloons float, to which Pennywise utters his famous line, "They float, Georgie, and when you're down here with me, you'll float too.." before ripping George's arm off, killing him.

In 1984, after a festival in Derry, a gay couple gets attacked by a group of homophobic teenagers, who throw one of them off a bridge. However, he is not killed by the fall, but by Pennywise. The teenagers witness this and tell the police, but all are found guilty. Steven Dubay, in reference to "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption", is sentenced to fifteen years in Shawshank Prison.

After receiving the call, Stan tells his wife that he's going to take a bath, something unusual for him to do at 7 pm. His wife goes to check on him and finds that he slit his wrists and used the last of his strength to write "IT" on the wall in blood.

It is revealed that Henry was abused by his father, who made Henry into a racist, homicidal sociopath. Shortly after receiving the switchblade, Henry approaches his father, who is napping in a chair, and stabs him in the throat, killing him.

Beverly, whose mother is often away for work, is tormented by her insane father. She is forced to cook breakfast for him, clean for him, and do anything he wants, and if she even does the slightest thing he doesn't like she gets beaten. Her mother even believes that he sexually abused her before.

In 1985, when she returns to Derry, she learns that her father died years before. It is left to the reader to decide if he was killed by Pennywise or not.

It is explained that Patrick went swimming once and got covered in leeches, resulting in his fear of them. While in a junkyard, after a sexual encounter with Henry, he opens a fridge that he puts animals in and is attacked by leeches. He passes out from blood loss and wakes up as It feeds on him.

As Beverly is washing up before bed, she hears the voices of dead children coming from the bathroom sink. Blood explodes from the sink, getting all over the bathroom. Her father, Alvin Marsh, rushes in but does not see anything. When he leaves, Pennywise's evil voice is heard from the drain.

Answer: Tom

Beverly, after receiving the phone call to return to Derry, is beaten by Tom when she attempts to leave. She ultimately gets away, but Tom hunts her down. He is commanded by Pennywise to kidnap Bill's wife, Audra, and bring her into the sewers so the Losers's Club will have to confront It.

However, after Tom sees Pennywise in his true form, he collapses from shock and dies, allowing It to feed on him.

Henry grew up hearing his racist father talking about how African-Americans caused everything bad in his life, so Henry would take out anger on Mike, such as throwing cherry bombs at him, beating him up, chasing him, etc.

Bill says this a handful of times later on in the novel. During the final battle with It, he says it shortly before being caught in the Dead Lights, lights It makes its victims stare into. They become transfixed and easier to kill. Prolonged exposure to Dead Lights results in loss of sanity and even a comatose-like state.

Along with eggs, bacon, and coffee, his version of toast is just bread heated up. Breakfast, one day, almost takes a bad turn when Beverly tells him there is no bacon left, so he instructs her to make him a hamburger. She says that there's not a lot of hamburger meat left, but makes one anyway to avoid his wrath.

Answer: The Creature from the Black Lagoon

Eddie first encounters It in the form of his deceased brother Dorsey, who pursues him. It then turns into the Creature from the Black Lagoon, and eventually catches Eddie, biting his neck and killing him.

In the novel, It takes the form of a mummy to frighten Ben. Pennywise also takes the form of a leper to get to Eddie Kaspbrak, a dog to kill a guard at Juniper Hills, and a spider, which is the closest it can get to its true form without killing anybody on sight.

It would never take the form of a Turtle. The Turtle is another entity, the sworn enemy of It, and dies at the end of the novel after choking on a "regurgitated galaxy or two."

Rose is seen only several times. One of the last times she is seen is when the group opens their fortune cookies. Inside each fortune cookie it something that scares them, and it is different for each person. Rose rushes over to see if everyone's alright. To cover, they tell her that Eddie had an asthma attack but everything's okay.

In "Misery", while Paul Sheldon is held captive by Annie Wilkes, he remembers living in Derry. He then mentions Mrs. Kaspbrak, who used to live next door to him and his mother.

Henry attacks Mike in a library but attacks Eddie in a hotel room. After his fight with Henry, Mike is put in the hospital. Eddie, however, kills Henry with a broken glass bottle by gouging his eye out and stabbing him.

They find eggs laid by It and begin destroying them. This leads to the assumption that It is female. However, this is not known for sure. Bill also finds Audra, but they decide to deal with Pennywise first.

Eddie faces his fears and sprays It, in spider form, with his asthma inhaler (which he used to severely wound Pennywise back in 1958). However, It grabs him and bites off his arm, killing him.

After overpowering It, Bill grabs the heart and crushes it between his hands. With It finally dead, they escape as the sewer and caves collapse. In Derry, the town begins to flood and a violent storm destroys a good portion of it.

They get married, and Bev becomes pregnant soon after. It is unknown what happens to them after that. Once they leave, it's just Mike and Bill left in Derry.

Bill says he loves her too, and quips, "And what else matters?" bringing an end to the book. Just prior, Mike states that he can leave Derry, not having to stay any longer. This is a bitter-sweet moment. Pennywise is dead, but the reader is left knowing that the friends will forget each other eventually, as Mike states that he and Bill often have to ask each others' names.
