In this fairy tale, the boy's name is not mentioned, nor is the girl's. To not ruin the story for you, I will simply tell you the beginning.

"Once upon a time, there was a king and a queen. Sadly, the queen could bear no children. Every day she went out into the garden and prayed. She would ask God to bestow on her a son or a daughter. One day, while she was praying, an angel came down from heaven and said 'be at rest, you shall have a son with the power of wishing, so that whatsoever in the world he wishes for, that he shall have'."

There are three brothers in the story. They are all the king's sons. The two oldest went out into the world (they left home). These brothers were very intelligent, yet they were stuck at one place unable to travel. The youngest brother is a dwarf. He is very young and simple. He sets off to find his brothers. After some time, the youngest convinces his older brothers to travel the world.

3. In this fairytale, the title is the name of a tree. In the story, there is a woman who dearly wants a child. She is peeling apples under a tree when she sighs and wishes for a child as red as blood and as white as snow. What kind of tree was it?

Answer: Juniper

This fairytale, called "The Juniper Tree", is a bit like "Snow White". The only twist in the story is that the child comes from a fruit that fell from the tree. Oh, and as soon as the little girl comes out of the fruit the woman dies because her joy is so great. It is so sad. But the moral is amazing. PLEASE READ IT.

4. Which of the following is another title for "Snow White"?

Answer: Snowdrop

"Snowdrop" is the same story as "Snow White", except that the name of the girl is different (instead of Snow White it is Snowdrop). In the story a woman longing to have a child wishes for a girl with skin as white as snow, hair as black as ebony, and lips as red as blood. Soon, that very wish comes true. But, as in many stories, the mother of this child dies.

5. What vegetable is the title of a fairytale where there are two brothers who are soldiers, one rich and the other poor?

Answer: Turnip

In this story, the poor brother gives up being a soldier, and becomes a gardener. He plants turnips in his garden, and one turnip grows and grows, until it can barely fit in his cart, and his ox can hardly pull it. Because he has no use for it be brings it to the king as a gift.

The king, in return, gives the gardener a lot of land and tons of money. The gardener's brother is extremely jealous of his brother's luck so he... I am not finishing the story. I shall never spoil such a marvelous tale.

6. Once again, a vegetable title. What vegetable corresponds to the story where a man gets a magical cloak and a bird's heart, and every day he finds gold under his pillow because the heart brings him luck?

Answer: Salad

In this story, an old beggar woman comes along, and a young man gives her some food. To reward him, the woman tells him what I have already told you in the question. The salad enters the story a bit later.

Answer: The Story of the Youth who Went Forth to Learn what Fear Was

There was once a father who had two sons. One was smart, and sensible. His other child was stupid and could not do anything. The sensible one was the oldest. He was forced to do all the chores because his brother would not. The only thing he wouldn't do was to go near the churchyard at night, for he was scared... This fairytale stars an old fox with nine tails who believes his wife is unfaithful to him. To put her to the test he pretends he is dead to see what his wife would do. (There are two different versions of this story.)

Answer: She dies

The queen dies. Before she passes she asks the king never to marry another woman unless she has fair hair and is as beautiful as she is, for she was the fairest of the land.

10. In the tale "Doctor Knowall", what is the name of the poor peasant?

Answer: Crabb

Crabb wants to be a doctor. The reason for this is because he saw how well Doctor Knowall ate (if you ate well it meant you were rich). He asked the doctor for advice which he was then given.
