As for the other three, Malcolm's naming occurs last, and the prophecies and Macbeth's titling occur almost simultaneously. Though Macbeth does not realize it, at the moment that he receives the predictions, Duncan decides to give the dead Thane's title to Macbeth.

This is the first of many of Macbeth's visions. He is also visited by Banquo's ghost, and when he visits the witches for more prophecies, they reveal to him visions of what is to happen in reference to his downfall. Eventually, he is retrieved by Macduff and along with Siward and the English army returns to Scotland as a force to be reckoned with for Macbeth.

The assassins were considering to not go through with the murder. So Macbeth insulted them, badgered them, and reminded them of what Banquo had done to them to ensure their support.

This is one of the times where we see the torture that Macbeth is going through. Originally, Macbeth was convinced he had no reason to kill Duncan in the first place. So as the play goes on and Macbeth kills more and more people, his previously "nice guy" soul is constantly undergoing torture.

Malcolm doubts and tests Macduff for the better part of Act four, Scene three. It is assumed that Macbeth had already sent other spies to England by the care that Malcolm takes in testing Macduff. Once Macduff's loyalty is sure, they begin planning their return to England.
