Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. You are excused from having good manners as long as?

Answer: You're dead

The only reason why you should be excused from having good manners, is if you are very young or you don't know any better. Having good manners will help you make more friends and be respected by more people.
2. Why are kids so rude, according to this book?

Answer: They're imitating movie stars and sports heroes

If kids see their favorite movie star or sports hero being rude, they will copy that behavior, because they think it's cool. Kids need to know that their favorite famous person, when if they act like a jerk, can get into big trouble.
3. How can parents teach their children manners?

Answer: Setting a good example

If the parents have good manners, their kids will copy the parents' example. By parents teaching their kids good manners, the kids will learn how to behave better.
4. When is it okay to be rude back?

Answer: Never

It's not correct behavior to be rude back; even if you think it is the correct behavior, it isn't. It always makes the rude person look like a fool, if the person isn't a fool already.
5. Why would you sign the register book at a funeral?

Answer: Show your respect and extend your condolences

If you attend the wake service, it is respectful to sign the register. When you attend a wake service of a person that you don't know very well, it's nice to show their family that you care about them.
6. You have a piano recital scheduled for the same day as your friend's bar mitzvah, which event do you attend first?

Answer: Send profuse regrets and a lovely gift to your friend

If your piano recital is later on in the day, attend the bar mitzvah first.
7. If you are asked to be an escort for a debutant at her ball, what should you do?

Answer: Be a charming dancer and conversationalist

The dance is a very big deal to the debutant. The debutant is an adult now and is available to date any male in her age group. Remember to be as polite as possible during the event.
8. You don't like the speaker at your graduation ceremony, what do you do?

Answer: Listen politely but withhold your applause

Even if you didn't like the person who was speaking, it's rude to protest in any way. The speaker took time out of their already busy day to come speak at the ceremony. You don't get to pick who speaks at a graduation ceremony, the school officials do.
9. You are attending a wedding, you like the groom, but you hate the bride; what do you do?

Answer: Be friendly and courteous despite your opinion

If you don't like the bride keep your thoughts to yourself. The groom wants to marry the bride, despite what you may think about her. You have no reason to think otherwise in this situation.
10. You go to visit your best friend in the hospital; what should you do?

Answer: Ask if there's anything that you could bring him on your next visit

When visiting a friend that has had an operation, if they want to talk about their operation, they will let you know. When a doctor comes in the room to talk to their patient, leave the room so that they can talk privately. When your friend wants to rest for a little bit, leave the room so that they can rest.
