Deep Sea Blowfish is safe provided every bit of stomach, liver and digestive tract is removed, otherwise the diner will become part of the wallpaper.

There is no such thing as a second-rate blowfish chef. Although Nanny's recipe states that it is important that no part of the blowfish is to be used at all, the recipe does call for it.

In 'Maskerade' when Mr. Goatberger reads this recipe he reaches for a ruler and looks at it thoughtfully. Mr. Cripslock does the same. This is the correct spelling for this recipe, not to be confused with the Banananana Dakry as described in 'Witches Abroad'. (Nanny knows how to start spelling "banana", she just doesn't know when to stop.)

She tells us this in her recipe for Slumpie. You can make it out of anything as long as you call it Slumpie. It is part of the infamous dinner served to Enrico Basilica (Henry Slugg), Lady Esmerelda (Granny Weatherwax), Mr. Bucket and Salzella at the Opera House in 'Maskerade'.

Answer: Carrot and Oyster Pie

According to Nanny, oysters are available in any month that has a vowel in it. This recipe was included in the original 'Joye of Snackes'.

Answer: Brodequin Roti Facon Ombres

In 'Hogfather', when Death is filling in to keep the belief going, he swaps the sumptuous food from a posh restaurant with the beggars' planned meal of old boots and mud. With some creative naming, the restaurant served Brodequin Roti Facon Ombres (soldier's boots done in the Shades fashion [in mud]), Mousse de la Boue dans une Panier de la Pate de Chuassures (mud mousse in a basket of shoe pastry), Sole d'une Bonne Femme Servis dans un Coulis de Terre en l'Eau (ladies' shoes in mud) and Tourte a la Boue (mud pies). For the laces he had them dig up the recipe for Spaghetti Carbonara. Nanny's recipe however, does call for fresh beef instead of shoe leather.

In 'Witches Abroad' we learn that Mrs. Gogol says she can see the future in a bowl of gumbo. That's just a trick to make her appear knowing. All you can really see is that the future will certainly contain a very good meal. It's the jambalaya in which she sees the future, but as far as Nanny knows, it's the gumbo.

There are no ingredients but 26 steps, none of which ultimately contribute to the immediate creation of a cheese sandwich.

Mr. Dibbler is a purveyor of goods. Whenever one of his get rich quick schemes goes awry, he falls back on selling foodstuffs, usually "Sausages! Inna Bun!" The consummate salesman, he often resorts to discounting his merchandise to make the sale; "And that's cutting me own throat." (Hence his nickname 'Cut-Me-Own-Throat Dibbler'. CMOT himself appears in eight novels (as of 2006), and he has morphic equivalents in other parts of the Discworld: Cut-Me-Own-Hand-Off Dyblah, Disembowel-Myself-Honourably Dibhala, Al-Jibla, and Fair-Go Dibbler. CMOT could find uses for bits of animals the animal didn't know it had.

He also discovered that with enough mustard and fried onions people would eat anything.

The recipe in the book is not the genuine one. That one has a tendency to turn into an explosive when mixed with charcoal, the only element of gunpowder not in the recipe. In 'Reaper Man' it caused a compost heap to explode. Although Ridcully is known as the advocate for the Bursar taking the Dried Frog Pills, according to Nanny's cookbook, it was Ponder Stibbons who discovered the recipe.

In 'Interesting Times' we are introduced to the Traveller's Digestives, which is essentially the human version of Dwarf Bread. (One look at it and you realize how much farther you can go without eating.) Drop Scones are one variety of dwarf battle bread. Rat Vindaloo you don't want to know about. The Lancre Mint Cake is for mountain travellers who may need to beat a troll to death.

Answer: Bloody Stupid Johnson's Individual Fruit Pie

Bergholt Stuttley "Bloody Stupid" Johnson is the Discworld's most notorious architect and designer. He had an inability to understand dimensions, so his Quirm Memorial fits into a small carboard box, and his recipe for Individual Fruit Pie requires 30,000 lbs of flour, 30,000 tspns of salt, 15,000 lbs of butter, 10,000 lbs of sugar and 30 tons of cooking apples.
