John Perry (cloned and made young again, then recloned to make him 'not green skinned'), his second wife Jane (cloned body of his first wife Kathy, new person), and their adopted daughter Zoe, lead the colonists who gradually come to realise they are being used as political pawns by the Earth Colonial Defence Force in the battle for "real estate" in space. We first met John Perry, and Jane Sagan as she then was, in "Old Man's War" (2005), and Zoe in "The Ghost Brigades" (2006) and "Zoe's Tale" (2008).
