1. In "A Fairy in the Flat" - Mr. Carter, Tommy's boss, asks Tommy and Tuppence to take over a detective agency. What type of stamp does he ask them to look out for?

Answer: Russian

Tuppence is bored with life. Mr. Carter explains that Theodore Blunt, the original owner of the detective agency, is in prison. He did foreign business so Tommy and Tuppence are to be on the look out for blue letters with a Russian stamp. Under the stamp will be a number sixteen.
2. In "A Pot of Tea" - Where is the detective agency based?

Answer: Bloomsbury

Tommy and Tuppence take over the detective agency. It is called Blunt's Brilliant Detectives. They refuse to deal with divorce cases. Their fist customer is a rich young man who is concerned about the disappearance of the girl he loves. Tuppence rashly says they will find her in 24 hours.

But all is not what it seems. Tommy is Mr. Blunt, while Tuppence is his secretary Miss Robinson. Albert is now their office boy.

Tommy and Tuppence investigate the disappearance of an expensive pearl at a house party. Unfortunately one of the members of the party is a kleptomaniac. The pearl is hidden in a bar of soap. Tommy and Tuppence take on the roles of fictional detectives when they investigate crimes.

This is a Dr. Thorndyke case, created by R. Austin Freeman. We are also introduced to Inspector Marriot of Scotland Yard.

An artic explorer returns home from an expedition to find his girlfriend has disappeared. This is a Sherlock Holmes case, created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

This is a Doctor Fortune and Superintendent Bell case created by H. C. Bailey.
