1. Aristophanes - Trygaeus brings an end to the Peloponnesian War

Answer: Peace

Aristophanes brought us the story of Trygaeus, who flies on a dung beetle to the house of the gods. There he finds that Peace has been imprisoned by War. Trygaeus is successful in freeing Peace, and her companions Festival and Harvest. The various guests (and the Chorus) bring to light the realities of post-war existence.
2. Sean O'Casey - Harry Heegan's sojourn before, during, and after war

Answer: The Silver Tassie

Set in the time of the First World War, Harry Heegan goes off to war. His story takes us through the battlefield and a veteran's hospital. The last act deals with Harry's life in the aftermath of war.
3. Somerset Maugham - The Ardsley family struggles in the aftermath of World War I

Answer: For Services Rendered

Leonard and Charlotte Ardlsey and their children are each affected by the war. One child, Sydney, was blinded in the war and their daughter Eva has dedicated herself to his care. Daughter Ethel married an officer, but when he returns to his pre-war occupation as a tenant farmer, her family is dismayed. The youngest daughter Lois is just trying to find an escape from the family.

The play title "G. R. Point" refers to Graves Registration Point, where the dead are processed before burial. The story tells of the dissolution of self as fresh recruit Micah Broadstreet joins his unit and begins fighting.

Answer: Mother Courage and Her Children

Anna Fierling is Mother Courage. When the show starts she has three children, Eilif, Kattrin and Swiss Cheese. The story unfolds as the war progresses, until by the end, she has lost her children and continues on alone.

Dolores, in her living room decorated with emblems of war, communicates with her husband when he dies in battle leaving her to care for five children. As the play continues, each of the children dies and comes to speak with her.

Answer: Idiot's Delight

First produced in 1936, the play unfolds as a train stops at a failing Alpine inn with several guests. The guests are initially trapped at the inn while the world war threatens. Though some of the guests leave, the others stay as bombs begin to fall.
8. Irwin Shaw - Six dead soldiers refuse to be interred

Answer: Bury the Dead

When the show opens, soldiers are attempting to bury the dead. Despite the appeals from senior officers, a priest and a rabbi, the dead plead to continue living. Then the women from their previous lives intervene. In the end, the corpses refuse to be buried.
9. Noël Coward - How the aftermath of World War I affects two veterans, John Cavan and Perry Lomas

Answer: Post Mortem

John Cavan dies in battle, but then returns to his home to see the effects that the war has had on those that were close to him. His comrade, Perry Lomas, authors the book "Post Mortem", which causes such controversy that he ultimately takes his own life.
10. Euripides - The story of what befalls the women of Troy

Answer: The Trojan Women

The last in a trilogy of plays about the Trojan War, the play is set in the time after Troy has been besieged. It tells of the suffering of the women as the victorious Greeks determine the future for Cassandra, Andromache, and Hecuba.
