Wanda did love Jared, but that was no secret. In a previous life she had saved the life of a fellow soul by cutting him out of a damaged host body. She realized she had the knowledge to free every human on Earth, and thus end the invasion.

On the Mists planet, Wanderer was called Lives in the Stars. After saving her friend by implanting him in a huge beast, she was given the name Rides the Beast, which she despised. Wanda also told the policeman who pulled her over that her name was Leaves Above. Jodi, the woman Kyle loved, was named Sunlight Passing Through the Ice, not Wanda.

While Wanda, Kyle, Ian, and Jared traveled around collecting supplies, they stopped at a hotel. Wanda looked out of the window and witnessed a family having fun at a playground. She mentioned to the men that the couple's child was human. The group witnessed the blissfully happy family run around together.

The shows it displayed were stiffly acted by the aliens and never had a bad ending. It was a first- Ian had not fallen in love with Melanie, he had fallen in love with Wanda, the silvery alien. Jamie also loved the alien as much as he loved his sister Melanie- he treated her fairly. In time, Wanda realized she was in love with Ian as well. She told him that no matter what body she inhabited and no matter on what planet she lived on, she would always love him.

Whenever an argument broke out, Jeb would arrive, his rifle in his arms. Several times he would stroke his weapon and state "It's my house!" People grew tired of his constant warning. In truth, before the aliens arrived, Jeb was a paranoid man, and created the cave that the humans sought shelter in. His paranoia had paid off.

The group was forced to use a cactus-infused soap that they had learned to create. It burned their skin, but it was all they had. Once Wanda was allowed to go out and shop for supplies, they finally got to use nice shampoos and various soaps that didn't hurt when they used them.

After Wanda received her new host, she was allowed to once more get supplies for the humans. When the group went to retrieve their trucks, they found an entire group of humans who wanted to meet them. The survivors introduced themselves. In that new group was another soul who had turned his back to his species, just like Wanda. It was a hopeful ending to the story.
