Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the hero's full name?

Answer: FitzChivalry Farseer

He had chosen this name for him as soon as the boy had arrived at Buckeep but he didn't tell him for several years. He also had a new coat of arms made for him, one with a Buck charging.
2. What does Prince Regal say the boy needs only scratch himself to find?

Answer: Nameless the dog boy

Since Regal called him that, everytime he wallows in self-pity this is what he calls himself. It was a major blow to his self-esteem.
3. Who was stablemaster of Buckkeep after Burrich?

Answer: Hands

Hands was a very skilled boy, Burrich took a liking to him as soon as Hands had come to him on some concern about the horses. Sadly, Hands, who had been a good friend of Fitz, betrayed him after he discovered that Fitz did have the Wit.
4. What herb does Chade give Verity to calm the headache that comes after Skilling?

Answer: Elfbark

Chade thought Elfbark calmed down Skill pain but Kettle in the third book informs Fitz that it actually deadens the Skill. She also said that given to children or in great quantities it can also destroy one's ability to Skill.
5. What is a group of Skilled-Ones working as a circle called?

Answer: Coterie

A coterie's duty is to relay messages, to fight the enemy using the Skill but, most importantly, to give their strength to their Monarch. The most famous one was Crossfyre's Coterie, a coterie of members who were all crippled in some way. They died giving their strength to Queen Diligence.
6. What was so unique about Galen's such circle?

Answer: All of these

Galen was the Skillmaster of the Six Duchies but he had not finished his training under Skillmaster Sollicity - he was not a true master of the Skill. He created the coterie although traditionally they should have chosen each other and Galen wasn't part of the coterie. It should have been named August's coterie as he was its first leader.
7. What was the poison to kill Rurisk diluted with?

Answer: Apple Wine

The carafe with Apple Wine in Rurisk's room was a present from Regal. It was already poisoned when he sent Fitz to assassinate Rurisk. It was all meant to frame and kill Fitz. Fitz had told Rurisk he was supposed to have poisonned him so Rurisk drank from the cup Fitz drank from and he was killed. Fitz came also close to death from the sip of wine he had taken.
8. What happens to Chivalry's bastard when he overexerts himself?

Answer: He gets seizures

The seizures are the result of his poisoning by Regal in the Mountain Kingdom and his near drowning caused by the same prince while he was still weak. It could also come from Kettricken's poison though there are less chances as he had purged himself that same night.
9. What is Burrich's Wit name (the one given him by the dogs and the wolf)?

Answer: Heart of the Pack

Nighteyes informs Fitz of this and every time they refer to Burrich in their minds this is what they call him as well.
10. What is the name Burrich uses on Fitz to call him back to his body?

Answer: Changer

Nighteyes also sometimes refers to Fitz as "Changer" but Fitz doesn't like it so he usually calls him "little brother". Even The Fool names him Catalyst and he is called other variations of this as well.
11. What is Kettle's real name?

Answer: Kestrel

Kestrel was a member of Stanchion's coterie. She used her Skill on herself to remain always youthful looking. It worked quite well though she did age after her two hundred odd years.
12. Why was Kettle's Skill burnt out of her?

Answer: She killed a member of her coterie

Kestrel's Skill was burned by her own coterie because she murdered Gull, a member of her coterie and her own twin sister. She was enraged because she walked in on Stanchion making love to Gull, thus two-timing her. After they had punished her, the coterie was unable to continue their work because of the hurt they had all received at the sudden breaking of their bonds to two of their own.
13. What was the name of Girl-on-a-dragon?

Answer: Salt

The dragon mired in the stone was fashioned by Salt's coterie. She was vain and sought to retain her own form and so the dragon wasn't filled and didn't come to life. The entire coterie was prisoner of the statue until The Fool started working on it and it was awakend by blood and Wit.
14. How are people Forged?

Answer: The same way you make a dragon

The Red-Ship Raiders had managed to get scrolls on how the dragons were made and discovered how to give life to normal stone. It involved taking people's feelings and filling the rock, the same way Verity put all his feelings and memories in his dragon. But it was incomplete and so the people weren't absorbed into the stone but were left Forged.
15. What did it take to awaken the dragons in the Garden of Stones?

Answer: Wit and blood

Fitz and Nighteyes discovered this when engaged in battle against too many Farrowmen. They made it a bit of a contest to see which of them would awaken the most.
