There never has been a character named Rick Walden. I just liked the name. Steve Plank was Buck's supervisor at Global Weekly until Plank left to be Carpathia's media liason. Soon after, Global Weekly was bought by Carpathia and so Buck himself worked for the Antichrist. Steve Plank reportedly died in the Wrath of the Lamb quake, but actually he got saved as the building fell on him, and he just changed his identity when he woke up in the hospital.

Rayford is unsure about Albie's mark because he thinks Albie is acting strangely. And when Pinkerton Stephens, before they find out he is a believer, says he sees a smudge on Albie's forehead, Rayford is convinced that the Trib Force has been compromised.

When they see Pinkerton's mark, however, Rayford grabs Albie and checks his, and finds that it is real. Albie just looks at him and says, "Satisfied?".

Buck takes care to make sure he fixes the brake lights and interior lights so that the GC won't see them, but he picks the white Hummer instead of the black one. The GC don't see him though, but they do hear the noise made by Zeke, and Buck and Zeke barely escape.

After Rayford and Buck bring her back to life after her suicide attempt in Colorado, they get her out of GC custody and go to a motel to rest before going back to the safehouse. Rayford doesn't push her because he's told her about Christ so many times he is beginning to lose hope of her ever believing.

But Albie tells her his story and tells her about Jesus loving the unlovable and after a night of crying in her room, she attacks Rayford the next morning, demanding to know if he can see her mark like she sees his.

Buck pulls out a teenage boy and Albie rescues a teenage girl. Neither names are given in the rest of this book, however they both play an important role in the books to come.

The Babylon Four is the codename the Trib Force came up with for the four who were escaping New Babylon before the mark was to be applied to all employees. They crashed their aircraft by remote and then, at the beginning of the next book, headed for Mizpe Ramon, where they would help Operation Eagle when it began. Except for David who went on to set up a communications center at Petra.

Chang is given the mark of the beast when his father and Walter Moon drug him and force it on him. He then pretends that he sees the benefits of being "biloyal", but after David escapes New Babylon and Chang is the only believer left there, he becomes desperate and tells Tsion that he wants to kill himself. Of course, David and Tsion convince him that God has not abandonned him.

In a later book, Chaim and the elders deal with this mark in a most remarkable way!
