Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was one of the factors that led to the first attack being withdrawn?

Answer: Andrea's great aim

When the Governor arrived with the rest of his followers, they didn't expect Rick's group to be so formidable. It was mostly thanks to Andrea's shooting that they were forced to retreat. She sat up on one of the watchtowers and, with her amazing aim, shot down enemy after enemy. Billy did throw grenades, but that was during the second wave.
2. Which couple set out on their own to fight the Governor?

Answer: Tyreese and Michonne

After the enemy drew back, Michonne convinced Tyreese to sneak into the woods with her to strike while the enemy was unsuspecting. It worked at first, because they did manage to kill three people. But then Tyreese was captured. The Governor's right-hand man told him that he had killed Michonne as well.
3. Who was the first of Rick's group to be killed?

Answer: Tyreese

Tyreese was captured outside of the prison. The Governor threatened to kill him if Rick didn't open the gates to let his people in. He also said that he had Michonne with him, and threatened her as well. Rick told his friends to remain quiet, hoping to give Michonne a chance to escape. Tyreese was killed by the Governor, who chopped his head off.

He died nobly, yelling to the others, "Don't let him in!"
4. Which of the following did the Governor NOT do in the story?

Answer: He killed one of his lieutenants

The Governor was an evil, twisted person. In order to control his zombie daughter, he pulled every single one of her teeth out. He then kissed her inappropriately, affirming suspicions of his indecent relationship with her. When his people found the body of Martinez, he chopped his head off. He told his followers that it was Rick's people who had done it.
5. Who gave Rick blood when he needed it?

Answer: Patricia

After the first skirmish, the group began to head in. Alice was tending to Andrea and Axel, who had each been shot. Rick collapsed, and everyone realized that he'd been shot; he just didn't mention it. Alice removed the bullet but said that she needed to give him a blood transfusion.

She was prepared to ask everyone to test their blood for compatibility, but Patricia called out, saying that she had O-negative blood, meaning she was a universal donor.
6. Who was probably the least injured in the story?

Answer: Carl

Carl wasn't injured at all. But his father Rick was shot in the stomach and needed time to recover. Andrea was grazed by a bullet on her head and passed out. She collected another scar as a result. Axel was shot directly in his bicep and needed Alice's help, too. He was later shot in the head.
7. How did the Governor die?

Answer: One of his own people shot him

Andrea did try to shoot him, but missed because of her unfamiliarity with wearing a helmet. Lori was shot to death running away from the enemy. She was holding her little baby girl Judy, who was shot as well. One of the Governor's people, a woman named Lilly, saw the still form of the baby and broke down. Lilly shot him in the head and let the zombies devour the monster.
8. Which of the following was NOT part of Rick's plan for defense?

Answer: Aim the tank right at the enemy

Rick knew the battle was coming and tried everything in his power to keep everyone safe. He lined cars up by the gates and wanted the others to break the windows of each car to avoid glass flying everywhere. He sent Billy up to the tower and had him throw grenades down onto the foe. Rick also agitated enough zombies to gather around the prison gates.

It provided an excellent defense, since the Governor had to fight through them to get to the prison.
9. What ruined Rick's main plans?

Answer: Dale took most of his fighters away in his RV

Rick was indeed shot, but that did not stop him. When Dale fretted over losing Andrea, he demanded to take her away to keep her safe. He took the children Billy, Ben, and Sophia with him. Glenn and Maggie, who wanted to have a baby, decided to go along with him. Rick was shocked, saying "I don't think we can do this." They did return later, and Andrea was able to shoot the Governor's number one man.
10. Ultimately, how many of Rick's friends were killed in this story?

Answer: Eight

In this horrible war, Rick lost eight of his friends. The Governor was personally responsible for the murders of Tyreese, Alice and Hershel. Billy, Axel, Lori, Judy, and Patricia were all shot. There was some justice when the Governor's people began to see the error of their ways.

After shooting nineteen-year-old Billy, one man cried out that he had just shot a boy. Judy was also killed, and it was her death that sparked the end of the Governor.
