Aaron and Eric's job was to recruit survivors into the community. The newly recruited were judged to be decent people willing to work in the society. Maggie gave the two men her horses and they found a woman. She cried a lot but seemed stable. Aaron woke up one night and found her stealing a horse.

She escaped with it and managed to stab Eric during the process. Aaron rushed back home and got Eric help.

Answer: Abraham and Rick

At the beginning of the story it was revealed that Douglas had appointed Rick as the new leader of the group. Douglas was still grieving over losing his wife Regina. Also, it was revealed that Tobin, the original leader of the construction crew, had been replaced by Abraham. Later on original community members talked about how lucky they were that Rick's group had arrived.

Answer: A warning shot from Andrea

The story picked up from what had previously happened - the group had defended themselves against a band of people and had to resort to using their guns. The noise began to draw more roamers. Abraham saw a large collection coming and gathered help to draw them away. Eventually they heard a single shot ring out, and Glenn knew it was Andrea, since it was from a high-caliber gun.

They ran back and saw a herd advancing.

Andrea fretted over how help her friends defending themselves against the deadly herd. Spencer remarked that they should simply leave them behind. At first Andrea thought he meant Spencer, Heath, Glenn, and her, but he said, "Just you and me." She slapped him and said, "So that's about the end of 'you and me'."

Answer: Ron

Jessie and her son Ron joined Rick and Carl in their home one night, doing as Rick had requested of the community. He felt it was safer that they weren't so spread out. During the night, Ron woke Carl up and said "Your Dad killed my Dad." However, Carl didn't back down and said that was true. Ron cried and wanted to know why his father was bad and why Carl's was seen as good.

Answer: Jessie

Since Jessie was in Rick's house, the two had a conversation. She admitted that she thought he was amazing, the way he did whatever it took to keep his people - including his son - safe. She kissed him and at first he resisted, but not the second time. Later Rick looked at the phone he had been carrying around and said "Lori... you're not even real."

Answer: Abraham

Spencer arrived with a rope he claimed Heath had found. The group threw one end of it across the horde of zombies and tied the other end to a roof. The three men carried supplies across the line, but when Spencer crossed it, it broke. Glenn and Heath struggled to pull him away from the zombies until Andrea arrived and helped them all.

Morgan was bitten on the arm during a fight against the roamers. He was terrified and was afraid to die. Rick screamed that he could possibly stop the infection by removing his arm. Michonne used her sword and did the deed. They carried him home and Denise attempted to cure him. However, Morgan developed a fever and did not survive.

Answer: Carl

Douglas was very depressed and, during the attack, took a gun and prepared to end his life. He allowed several zombies to get very close to him. However, he saw Rick, Carl, Jessie, and Ron attempting to get through the herd and began to shoot them. The zombies reached him and he began to shoot uncontrollably. One shot hit Carl on the right side of his face, which left Carl with no right eye or ear. Rick scooped him and, sobbing, carried him to Denise.

The story ended with Rick watching over his son lying in a bed, bandaged.

Bruce was killed right after Andrea saw the herd of zombies coming. He was bitten in several places. Abraham knew he was suffering so he killed him. Tobin was near a wall when it collapsed, and he sent Holly away to warn the others. When Rick found him he had been overtaken and killed. Ron and his mother Jessie were killed while trying to escape the community.

The original leader, Douglas, was also killed by zombies.
