Answer: Eorl

He was known as Eorl the Young because he became chief of his people at the age of 16! His father Léod was thrown from a wild horse, and died from the blow, a horse that Eorl caught and tamed. When Gondor was assailed in 2510 T.A. by the Easterlings of Balchoth, Cirion of Gondor desperately sent for aid from the Éothéod. Eorl rode at the head of his men and defeated the foe at the Field of Celebrant. Cirion granted Eorl the land of Rohan, and Eorl swore an oath to be ever loyal to Gondor.

Answer: Earendil

Eärendil was a half-elf, who chose immortality. His mission in life was to sail to Aman and seek the help of the Valar against the evil of Morgoth. He was set in the sky on his ship Vingilot, as a sign to the peoples of the Middle-Earth that his mission was successful, where he sails to this very day with the Silmaril of Luthien on his brow, as the morning and evening star.

Answer: Eöl

Eöl was kinsman of Elu Thingol, that preferred to live in the dark forest of Nan Elmoth. He ensnared Aredhel as a wife, and she bore him a son, Maeglin. When they escaped, Eöl pursued them to Gondolin, but sought death for Maeglin and himself. He failed to kill Maeglin but killed Aredhel instead, and was cast off the cliffs of Caragdûr to his death as punishment.

He made the two swords Anguirel and Anglachel out of the iron of a meteorite. Anglachel was given to Thingol, who gave it to Beleg Strongbow. Anguirel was kept by Eöl and was later carried by Maeglin.

Answer: Menegroth

Elwë Singollo was the name of Elu Thingol of the Sindarin elves. He founded the hidden kingdom of Doriath, of which Menegroth was its citadel. He led the third march of the elves westwards to Aman with his brother Olwë. He wedded Melian the Maia, and was father of Lúthien Tinúviel. He was killed by dwarves for the necklace Nauglamír, where he set the first of the Silmarils.

Erkenbrand was made Marshal only under the rule of King Éomer. All the rest served Théoden; Éomund was already Marshal of the Riddermark when Théoden was crowned.

Daughter of Beregar of the house of Bëor. Erendis preferred the green hills of Emerië and made her home there. Aldarion preferred the sea and would spend years sailing, away from her. In the end, they were estranged, and though years later she repented, they never spoke again. In despair, Erendis threw herself in the sea at Rómenna.

Varda put the stars in the sky, that is why the elves revere her. She was the wife of Manwë, King of the Ainur, and mightiest among the Queens.

The half-elven King of Númenor, Elros Tar-Minyatur was longest lived of all men, because he was half-elven, son of Eärendil and Elwing. He was given a choice by the Valar, and chose to be counted amongst men, unlike his brother Elrond, who chose to be counted amongst elves.

Eriol was the adventurer who reached Tol Eressëa seeking knowledge and history of the Elves at the Cottage of Lost Play. This is Tolkien's way of connecting his fictional Arda with the real world, especially England. Eriol is later also named AElfwine.

Eru Ilúvatar, the One, brought Arda into being by saying "Eä!", meaning "Be!". The music of the Ainur was translated into substance by Eru and the result was the world.

Answer: Eönwë

Eönwë brought Eärendil to face judgement in Aman, then was named leader of the host of the Valar that set out back to the Middle-Earth. He was the Herald of Manwë Súlimo, and the mightiest of all the Maiar. Eönwë was keeper of the two remaining Silmarils, as he was the one who took them out of the Iron Crown of Morgoth, but lost them to the sons of Fëanor.

His alliance with Gil-Galad brought about the defeat of Sauron that marked the end of the Second Age. Although he lost his life in Barad-dûr, his son Isildur cut off the One Ring from the hand of Sauron with the shards of Narsil, Elendil's ancient sword. The sword was re-forged for Elendil's heir, Aragorn, as Andúril.

Answer: Éowyn

"No living man may hinder me" said the Lord of the Nazgûl. "But no living man am I! You look upon a woman." (LOTR Bk. 5 Ch. 6.) and so Éowyn, shieldmaiden of the Riddermark, destroyed the mightiest of the Ringwraiths. Daughter of Théodwyn and Éomund of Eastfold, niece of King Théoden, she was a woman made of steel, and preferred the sword and horse.

Sons of Elrond Halfelven and Celebrían, they were together in all they did. Apparently they stayed in the Middle-Earth even after their father departed from it. Elladan was elder.

Ecthelion of the Fountain was Warden of the Great Gate of Gondolin the Hidden City. It was he who admitted Tuor into the hidden city. In the sack of Gondolin by Morgoth's armies, Ecthelion slayed Gothmog and was slain by him.

Eärnur was also the last King of Gondor; he died childless and after that, the Stewards took up rule. He was killed in Minas Morgul by the Witch-King of Angmar when he goaded him into a duel. Eärnur had refused once, but the second time he answered, he was taken by the Nazgûl and killed by the Witch-King.

Answer: Imrahil of Dol Amroth

Together they had one son, Elfwine. Éomer was a close companion of King Elessar, and went with him on his expeditions to the far lands of Harad and Rhûn. Éomer was nephew of King Théoden, and was named heir on the field of Pellenor.

Son of King Elendur, Eärendur took the crown in 777 T.A. Because of petty differences between his three sons, after Eärendur's death the realm of Arnor was divided into three kingdoms: Arthedain, Cardolan and Rhudaur. His rightful heir was his eldest son, Amlaith, predecessor of Aragorn II, King Elessar.

Answer: Elrond

Elrond is among the greatest of elf-lords, even though he is only half-elven. The son of Elwing and Eärendil, he was given a choice by the Valar amongst which race he wanted to be, and he chose Eldar. His brother Elros chose Edain. He wore the Great Elven-ring of Vilya and built Rivendell to greatness.
