Marcia Overstrand was the ExtraOrdinary Wizard, who was somewhat snooty but could be thoughtful and kind. She searched ten years before she finally found a child gifted in *Magyk* whom she wanted to become her apprentice - Septimus Heap.

2. "I am a message rat, and my favorite things to do are talk and eat. I have helped the Princess and her friends on many occasions, and pride myself on my good memory."

Answer: Stanley

Stanley used to be married to Dawnie, but they had a disagreement and broke up. He had big plans for hiring many rats for a revival of the Message Rat service, but because no rats turned up for the job, he had to do all the message carrying by himself!

3. "I am apprenticed to Jannit Maarten, the boatbuilder. I traveled to the House of Foryx when I was stuck 500 years in the past."

Answer: Nicko Heap

Nicko was trapped in the past, but discovered that if he went to the House of Foryx there was a chance that he might return to his own time. He did, of course, and renewed his apprenticeship with Jannit Maarten.

Marcellus Pye made a potion for eternal life; however, because he did not have eternal youth, he grew old and grizzled. When Septimus returned to his own time, the apprentice made Marcellus a potion for eternal youth that made him appear as if he was eternally in his thirties.

When Snorri was trapped in the past she found her great-aunt Ells, who had accidentally gone into the past before Snorri was even born. Great-Aunt Ells told Snorri about the House of Foryx - the place where All Times Do Meet.

Lucy's father was the grumpy old Gatekeeper who would let those who wished to come into the castle do so - for a price. Her brother, Rupert, was apprenticed to Jannit Maarten, the boatbulider.

Merrin was actually the midwife's son, but DomDaniel thought that he was Septimus Heap and took him on as an apprentice. Merrin always resented Septimus for "stealing" his name.

No one in the Heap family knew where Grandpa Benji grew, until he saved Nicko and Septimus from being devoured by wolverines. The Witch Mother later showed Silas Heap where to find his father.

Jenna was raised by the Heap family, and only found out that she was the Princess when she was ten years old. Sometimes she got tired of people treating her differently because she was the Princess - but other times she used it to her advantage!

Beetle was fired from his job at the Manuscriptorium when the Cheif Hermetic Scribe, Jillie Djinn, found out that he had gone through an *UnSealed* hatch and into a forbidden area. He also had a crush on the Princess - which could sometimes be very distracting!

Queen Ethldredda had a pet Aie-Aie that spread the Sickenesse all throughout the Castle. The Queen cared more for this revolting pet than she did for her own daughters!

When Simon was working for the *Darke* Necromancer, he kidnapped his sister and practiced all sorts of *Darke Magyk*. However, he later stopped using *Darke Magyk* and got engaged to his sweetheart, Lucy Gringe.

As soon as the first Extra-Ordinary Wizard, Hotep-Ra, died, Tertius Fume sneaked back into the castle to have his revenge. Tertius *Darkened* the *Queste* so that all Apprentices who embarked on it perished.
