Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The follow up to "Prom Night" is considered a sequel though has nothing to do with the events of the original. A prom queen is set on fire by accident. Thirty years later, she comes back as a demon and posseses an innocent teen. This is a 1987 film whose beginning takes place in 1957. What is the correct title referred to as?

Answer: Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night 2

Although this sequel was critically panned, I thought it had some original, surreal moments with bizarre atmosphere to boot. Gotta love the '80s! Lisa Schrage plays the young Mary Lou and Loretta Bailey plays the creature side of MaryLou. Lisa stars in "Food Of The Gods 2".
2. Clive Barker is known to disown this adaptation of a comic book. This involves a creature that's unearthed. He terrorizes an Irish countryside then feeds on his victims. What film is this?

Answer: Rawhead Rex

Clive Barker may be turned off by the cheesy low budget quality that shines through. The outrage of it all made a fun no brainer experience. The titular monster has a hairstyle that a Glam Metal band would admire. David Dukes, the hero in "Rawhead Rex", gave an odd performance as a rapist who attacks Edith Bunker on "All In The Family", in the '70s.
3. Dario Argento does a remake of this classic horror tale. This time the central character is raised by rats and plays the organ. Which classic movie does he put his own twist on?

Answer: Phantom Of The Opera

Julian Sands gives another weird, sinister, and slightly tragic portrayal. This version has a twist I never would have seen coming. Besides this unusual twist the film stays faithful to the true version. Julian also portrays Jor El
on "Smallville".
4. A lesser known slasher film from the '80s, gives a "Melrose Place" photographer one of her first starring roles. She plays a teen who is initiated into a demonic fraternity that wants her blood. She attempts to fight this evil cult and survive. What movie is this?

Answer: The Initiation

Daphne Zuniga would go on to play Jo Reynolds, her signature character on
"Melrose Place". Quite a different start for her. "The Initiation" from 1984, has a stimulating climax, involving various weapons, used to battle evil.
5. This is a crazy Hong Kong cannibal film from the '80s. A group of tourists on an expedition in the wilderness falls prey to a group of radical man eaters. It's a spoof, but delivers heavily on the gut munching sequences. What's the title of this spoof?

Answer: We're Going To Eat You

This is an exclusive Hong Kong theatrical release, with strictly oriental cast, but they never make it to blockbuster status. True enthusiasts should be able to tell by the title, it doesn't take itself seriously. Gore fans will devour this. Good one for obscure film buffs to seek out.
6. Robert Englund is always known as the evil, supernatural villain. This film, which falsely advertises itself as a slasher, gives him an early role in his younger days. This is more backwoods than in the house. Instead of supernatural elements there is abduction and rape. What film depicts him in an unusual light?

Answer: Slashed Dreams

You would never know from looking at the cover of the vhs tape of this film, but it was a survival film rather than a slasher. The film still has some intense moments. Robert Englund's character assists the protagonist. This film received brief theatrical release.
7. You will only relate to this if you've seen a film called "The Cold". In this movie, mutated spiders the size of trucks terrorize a lone community. A group of citizens arm themselves to deal with this menace. Clips of this film are featured in the director's later effort "The Cold". What is the name of this movie?

Answer: The Giant Spider Invasion

The clips of "The Giant Spider Invasion" are shown on a televsion set in a hotel room. Bill Rebane is a low budget B-film director, whose claim to fame is campy films. This is shown years ago as a theatrical release, though no one really came to see it. "Mystery Science Thaeater 3000" fans should have seen this film featured on the program. B-movie fans of the 1950s should recognize the faces.

These actors play leads in this motion picture.
8. There were many Italian copycats of "The Exorcist" from 1973. One of the films is accused of depicting events from "The Exorcist" in every scene. The plotline is identical as well, involving a woman who gets possessed by the devil the same way. What is the correct title?

Answer: Beyond the Door

All of the details right down to the pea soup regurgitation are featured in this. A lawsuit was filed against the director for plagiarism. As in "The Exorcist" there is a head rotation scene. Juliet Mills, star of this production appears in "The Nanny And The Professor".
9. In the "Wishmaster" series the Djinn is a hellbound genie. If you make a wish backwards you die. In "Wishmaster 2: Evil Never Dies", he is revived once again and wreaks havoc at the Las Vegas casinos this time around. One unlucky prisoner makes a wish backwards the Djinn offers to him. How does he die in his cell?

Answer: Walks himself through the bars

This is the last method a prisoner would use to do him in. The Djinn causes the messiest of deaths. The unlucky victims mess up their wish. Then the Djinn delivers the gruesome details. Ouch! Andrew Divoff reprises his role as the monstrous being.
10. The gimmick "HorrorVision" is used in this 1980s gorefest. This involves the screen swirling around. Next, a glove appears on the screen, moving its fists around. This enables squeamish viewers the chance to bypass an upcoming scene. What film uses this gimmick?

Answer: Boardinghouse

An eligible bachelor buys a haunted estate to attract beautiful young women. They fall victim to its murderous past. The gimmick "HorrorVision" was meant for comedic effect. The director intends to film a horror spoof. The distributors want serious moments to balance the comedy. This film is released to "Grindhouse Theatres" in 3-D.
