James Bowen wrote the autobiographical book "A Street Cat Named Bob" telling the story of how befriending a stray cat helped the hapless drug addict overcome his addiction and give him new purpose to life. He is quoted as saying that he believes he would have died if he had not met Bob who made him re-evaluate his life.

Luke Treadaway is an English actor who was born in Devon in 1984. Before appearing in "A Street Cat Named Bob" his most famous film appearances were as Prokopian, the leader of the Cult of Hades, in the 2010 film "Clash of the Titans" and the posh student stoner in the 2011 British comedy horror science fiction film "Attack the Block".

The part of Bob is played by Bob the Cat himself although stand-ins for him are listed in the credits. These are named as Oscar, Booker, Jaffa, Ricki, Leo and Trayce.

Charlie Fink (born 16th May 1986) is a British singer-song writer who wrote the songs for the film "A Street Cat Named Bob". He is best known for fronting the Indie folk band Noah and the Whale. Val is played by English actress Joanne Froggatt who was born in North Yorkshire on 23rd August 1980.

She has appeared in several roles on British television and films. In "A Street Cat Named Bob" she plays James' drug support worker who gives him his first break as she believes he can turn his life around and persuades the council to provide him with a flat on the proviso he enters a drug rehabilitation programme.

After an incident outside the London Transport Museum James gets arrested and is banned from busking. He begins to sell "The Big Issue", a street newspaper sold by homeless people and people at risk of homelessness as a means to reintegrate them back into mainstream society.

The lady at the office sells James a bike with a basket on the front for £10.00 so that Bob can sit in it and accompany him to his patch. By this time Bob and James are attracting a great deal of attention on social media and videos of the pair are being uploaded onto YouTube and other social platforms.

Anthony Head is a British actor who was born on the 20th February 1954. In "A Street Cat Named Bob" he plays Jack Bowen, James' estranged father who stayed in England when James moved to Australia with his mother.

Jack opens his wallet and produces a photograph of a young James that he has always carried around with him.

When James first turns on his laptop he shows Bob the screen saver of the swimming fish and Bob tries to catch them.
