1. After escaping the Deadwood Swamp birds, Milo realizes that he is very hungry and goes to find some lunch. What kind of animal does Milo watch to see where some food is?

Milo sees the fox as he comes over the hill and then climbs up in a tree to get a better look. As he is watching, the fox is talking to himself about eating and then digs up a dead muskrat. The fox feels like someone is watching him so he buries his food for later. After the fox runs off, Milo climbs down from the tree, digs up the muskrat, and eats some lunch.

2. After his failed attempt at asking some clams for help, Otis sits down on a rock to think about how he's going to find Milo. As he's sitting there, the tide comes in so quickly that he becomes stranded out in the ocean. Just as he's about to jump in the water to try to swim to shore, someone swims up to the rock and asks Otis if he needs help. Who is it?

Answer: a sea turtle

The sea turtle swims up and starts to grumble about how he has to save someone everytime the tide comes in. He is annoyed but helps Otis get to shore. Otis thanks the turtle and goes on to find Milo.

3. After he is rescued, Otis comes into a meadow. What animal does Otis meet there?

Answer: a fox

Otis comes into the field and sees the fox swimming and running around. Otis goes up to the fox to ask for help and the fox asks what kind of animal he is. When Otis replies that he is a dog the fox starts to laugh and tease Otis about his little tail.

4. While trying to find his best friend and a way home, what is Milo almost run over by?

Answer: a train

While in a meadow, Milo stumbles upon a "road of wood and iron". He starts to follow it and is startled by a "big noisy animal" (a train). Milo ducks down just in time and the train passes over him.

5. After nearly getting killed, Milo comes into a field and meets an animal that wants him to "bound and leap" with her through the flowers. What kind of animal is she?

Answer: a deer

The deer walks over to Milo and tells him she knows of a place where he can get a drink. While going over there she tells Milo to bound with her through the flowers and Milo gives in to her request, even though he thinks it doesn't look right when he does it. After getting a drink, Milo cuddles up to the deer and goes to sleep.

6. Later that night, Milo is frightened by the sounds in the woods tries to find a safe place to sleep. Where does he end up sleeping?

Answer: a bird nest

He climbs up the tree and finds a bird's nest. After settling down an owl asks what he is doing in the nest. Milo is surprised to see the owl and asks if the nest belongs to him. The owl then tells Milo that he the Night Owl and that the nest is a Dreaming Nest.

The owl goes on to tell Milo that it is a safe place to sleep for the night. Shortly after the owl tells Milo that his sleep will be full of dreams, Milo goes to sleep and his dreams begin.

7. While sleeping, Milo is awakened by cries for help. Milo climbs down the tree to investigate. Who does he end up saving?

Answer: a piglet

After climbing down the tree, Milo finds a piglet. The piglet's foot is caught on something and he is scared that the screech owls will get him. After freeing the pig, Milo is led to where the pig's family is living. Milo spends the night with the pigs and is shocked by their manners at breakfast.

8. While looking for some lunch, what does Milo use his tail as?

Answer: bait for fishing

Milo gets the idea that if he puts his tail in the water he might be able to catch a fish. It seems to me like he was surprised when it worked!

9. Who is the first to steal Milo's fish?

Answer: a raccoon

The raccoon runs over as soon as Milo gets the fish out of the water and tries to run off with it. Before the raccoon can get away, a bear comes out of the woods and he wants the fish. However, instead of going after the raccoon, the bear decides to go after Milo instead.

The bear follows Milo up a tree and is really close to getting him but he falls out of the tree and decides to give up.

10. What else does Milo try to get for lunch?

Answer: seagull eggs

After losing his fish, Milo finds his way to a cliff over the ocean. He tries to sneak up on some seagull nests but the birds notice. The seagulls start to peck at Milo and he has no choice but to jump off the cliff into the ocean.
