Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The opening scenes show Jack and David walking along the road towards East Proctor; what is the name of the girl they are discussing?

Answer: Debbie Kline

Jack has known Debbie since the 8th grade but has yet to consummate their relationship! He is hoping to meet up with her in Rome after the two boys have backpacked across Northern England.
2. It is cold and getting dark outside, so the two boys take refuge in The Slaughtered Lamb, a pub where the locals are not exactly welcoming. Which hot beverage does the landlady reluctantly offer to serve them?

Answer: Tea

The boys ask for soup, coffee and hot chocolate but get negative responses from Gladys the landlady. She does then offer to make them some tea but they never get to drink it because Jack upsets the locals by asking them about the star on the wall.
3. What good advice is given to Jack and David as they leave The Slaughtered Lamb?

Answer: "Stay on the road and keep clear of the moors!"

They were also given similar advice by the sheep-farmer who gave them a lift at the start of the film. They are also told to "beware the moon"; the two lads think the locals are quite mad. They ignore the advice and soon find themselves lost on the moors with a strange creature making bloodcurdling howling noises. Too late they decide to head back to the pub.
4. Why doesn't the werewolf kill David?

Answer: The werewolf is shot by the men from the pub.

The werewolf attacks and kills Jack, then attacks David, the locals arrive and fire shotguns at the monster: although badly mauled, David escapes with some nasty cuts and bruises. He remains conscious just long enough to see the dead werewolf return to human form.
5. After being attacked, David wakes up in a London hospital some three weeks later; what is the name of the doctor who is treating him?

Answer: Dr Hirsch

Dr Hirsch is one of the few people who gives David's story about being attacked by a monster any credence. He attempts to conduct his own investigation into the matter.
6. Whilst David is recuperating in hospital, which book does Nurse Price (Alex) begin to read to him?

Answer: A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court

David has been having some violent nightmares and Dr Hirsch asks Alex to sit in with him. She starts to read to him "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" written by Samuel Langhorne Clemens (which is the real name of Mark Twain). It is a story about time-travel but David is far more interested in the story-teller than the story!
7. What time of day is it when the 'undead' Jack puts in his first appearance in David's hospital room?

Answer: Morning

David has just had his breakfast delivered when Jack shows up: as David is not feeling hungry, Jack helps himself to his toast and egg!
8. Two men named Villiers and McManus pay a visit to David's hospital doctor; which organisation are they from?

Answer: Scotland Yard

Inspector Villiers and Sergeant McManus are detectives from Scotland Yard investigating David's assault. The inspector doesn't believe a word of David's story and is keen to close the investigation, his sergeant keeps on contradicting him, much to Villiers' annoyance.
9. One of Nurse Price's patients is a small boy called Benjamin; what is Benjamin's one word response to any question which Alex asks of him?

Answer: No

Two short scenes feature Benjamin and offer some light relief from the drama of the main plot. It is not clear whether Benjamin doesn't understand English or whether, more probably, he is just being mischievious; either way it is obvious Alex really likes him.
10. When David's doctor calls in at The Slaughtered Lamb, in an effort to shed light on David's story, what drink does he order at the bar?

Answer: Campari and soda

Campari and soda is not a drink that is often asked for in The Slaughtered Lamb, so Dr Hirsch has to settle for a Guinness.
He offers to play one of the regulars at chess but these locals are not friendly and he returns home convinced that they are hiding something.
11. When David is discharged from the hospital, Alex offers to put him up at her flat. The following morning when he sees her off to work, (and locks himself out), who is passing the front door?

Answer: Two little girls walking a dog.

The dog barks and growls at David whilst the two girls giggle at him.
I always think the end credit of "Creepy Little Girls" is rather harsh.
12. Which song forms the soundtrack to David's first transformation into a werewolf?

Answer: "Blue Moon" by Sam Cooke

I might have tripped some of you up here because "Bad Moon Rising" is played just before the transformation but Sam Cooke's version of "Blue Moon" is the song playing behind David's torment.
"Moon Dance" accompanies the steamy love scene between David and Alex.
"Moon River" does not feature in this movie.
13. Who is/are David's first victim(s)once he becomes a werewolf?

Answer: The dinner-party guests

The couple get out of a taxi and go round the back of their friends' house to play a joke on them; big mistake! The three tramps are the next victims and finally the man at Tottenham Court Road tube station.
14. What is the name of the tramps' dog?

Answer: Winston

Winston can obviously sense something is wrong and when he is let off his leash, quickly runs away. The three tramps unfortunately don't have that option!
15. After his night of carnage where does David wake up the following day?

Answer: At the zoo

He awakes, naked, in the wolf enclosure and has to use his initiative to get back to Alex's flat. First he covers his embarrassment with some balloons taken from a schoolboy visiting the zoo, then emboldened by this, steals a ladies coat. The scene where he is waiting for a bus, barefooted and dressed in a fur-trimmed red ladies coat, is priceless!
