Also the camera was quieter than a normal camera, allowing Fricke to intrude less upon the various humans, as well as animals, in the movie. Using the TODD AO-70mm also posed one more diffuculty for Fricke.

The film is incredibly expensive and difficult to get. So Fricke had to get it right the first time. His tiny, 4 millon dollar budget shows that he accomplished it quite well.

The First Middle Eastern War is the European name for the Persian Gulf War. The scenes are of the Kuwati oil fields burning, as well as the absolute destruction of the Iraqi armored divisions on the Highway of Death, as named by the US media.
