After the test, Hank monitors massive radiation venting from the test site. When he tries to get the AEC and the general to do something about the two men who were contaminated, they tell Hank to drop it.

After Carly hears that there is another test the next day, she takes a horse and rides onto the test site herself. Since reporters have already seen her, she persuades the general to get Hank released from the hospital. The general also has Vince Johnson removed as the base commander.
