Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Casino Royale
Answer: Solange Dimitrios
Solange, played by Italian actress Caterina Murino, is the estranged wife of an underworld criminal named Alex Dimitrios. He is a henchman for arch-rival Le Chiffre. After Bond (Daniel Craig) enlists Solange to help locate her husband, she is found beaten to death and wrapped in a hammock, presumably on the order of Le Chiffre.
2. Die Another Day
Answer: Miranda Frost
Miranda, played by Rosamund Pike, is a cold-hearted double-agent and femme fatale of millionaire Gustav Graves. Graves, who deals in conflict diamonds, has built a satellite that can refocus sunlight into a powerful laser. Miranda meets her end in a sword fight with Bond's (Pierce Brosnan's) CIA counterpart Jinx, played by Halle Berry.
As a commercial plane disintegrates around them from Graves' laser gone awry, Miranda, an expert swordsman, tells Jinx, "I can read your every move." Jinx throws a knife-embedded book at her, then drop-kicks the knife into Miranda's chest.
3. Goldeneye
Answer: Xenia Onatopp
Xenia, played by Famke Janssen, is a femme fatale agent of the Janus crime syndicate. She first attempts unsuccessfully to seduce, and then sets out to kill Bond (Pierce Brosnan), whose mission is to rescue Russian programmer Natalya Simonova (played by Izabella Scorupco) and to prevent the hijacked Goldeneye Satellite from being put to evil use.
As the two make their escape, Xenia descends upon them from a helicopter. She meets her end when Bond shoots the pilot with Xenia still attached to the descent cable.
As the chopper spins out of control, Xenia is pulled and crushed into the crotch of a tree. Bond remarks, "She always did like a good squeeze."
4. The Man With The Golden Gun
Answer: Andrea Anders
Andrea, played by Maud Adams, is the estranged mistress of an elusive contract killer named Francisco Scaramanga. She has arranged to meet Bond (Roger Moore) at a sumo wrestling arena to hand over a Solex Agitator, a pocket-sized piece of techno equipment essential to Scaramanga's operation. Bond finds her there, still seated but dead, shot in the back by Scaramanga's vile little henchman Nick Nack.
He quietly recovers the Solex and leaves the arena unseen.
5. Moonraker
Answer: Corinne Dufour
Ms. Dufour, played by Corinne Clery, is a gorgeous pilot employed by Drax Industries, which has stolen a NASA space shuttle to replace one of its own that malfunctioned. Ms. Dufour assists Bond (Roger Moore) in obtaining blueprints for a set of glass vials designed to house a lethal nerve gas, which Drax will use to obliterate the human race. Dufour's reward for assisting Bond is first to be discharged, then attacked and killed by Drax's vicious guard dogs while trying to exit his massive landed estate.
6. Never Say Never Again
Answer: Fatima Blush
Fatima Blush is a vicious killer agent of SPECTRE, which has stolen a high-tech British military aircraft. She seduces Bond, played by middle-aged Sean Connery (his last Bond role), and then sets out to kill him. He bests her by launching a miniature explosive projectile fired from a fountain pen, which all but malfunctions before a delayed detonation. Bond looks disgusted at the pen and revisits a warning given by Q when it was first issued: "Not PERFECTED yet?"
7. Quantum of Solace
Answer: Strawberry Fields
Strawberry Fields, played by Gemma Arterton, is an MI6 agent assigned to assist Bond (Daniel Craig) over his caustic objection. They are to rescue the mistress of SPECTRE operative Dominic Greene, who is managing a subsidiary branch known as QUANTUM. The rescue succeeds, but Bond learns that Ms. Fields' body has been found in her hotel room, drowned in crude oil.
In the end M informs a still-bitter Bond that Green was also found dead in a Bolivian desert with his stomach full of motor oil. She states flatly, "I don't suppose you had anything to do with that?" She then tells Bond that she wants him back. Bond replies, "I never left."
8. Thunderball
Answer: Fiona Volpe
This SPECTRE agent, played by Luciana Paluzzi, is working for Emilio Largo, Bond's patch-eyed nemesis. In the Bahamas, Fiona seduces Bond (Sean Connery's fourth portrayal) while planning to have him killed. She lures him to an outdoor club where locals are celebrating the New Year with lively music and dance.
A sniper waiting for the exact moment to take out Bond shoots Fiona in the back instead. Bond covers the bullet wound with his hand and continues to dance with her as he leads her slumped body to a chair and sets her down.
He turns to an oblivious table server and replies, "She's dead tired." He then escapes and leaves her there unnoticed.
9. Tomorrow Never Dies
Answer: Paris Carver
Paris, played by Teri Hatcher, was a former partner of Bond. She has since married media tycoon Elliot Carver, who has secretly hijacked first a British and then a Chinese naval vessel, intending to program their missile weapons to launch an East vs West nuclear war. When Paris assists Bond (Pierce Brosnan) in obtaining access to Carver's headquarters, Carver has her quietly eliminated.
10. The World Is Not Enough
Answer: Elektra King
Bond (Pierce Brosnan) is assigned to protect Elektra King, played by Sophie Marceau, the surviving heir of an assassinated oil tycoon. Bond learns instead that Elektra is in league with terrorist Viktor Zokas, that the two of them arranged the assassination, and that they plan to use weapons-grade plutonium to blow up the city of Istanbul.
When Bond corners her at gunpoint she offers him "the world" and says, "You can never kill me, James." He does, and replies with the memorable phrase that renders the film its title.
