Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I found the last Golden Ticket. Who played me?

Answer: Peter Ostrum

Ostrum, born on November 1st, 1957 in Dallas, Texas, portrayed Charlie Bucket. Charlie delivered newspapers and wanted so badly to visit Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. As Charlie was impoverished, he worried that he would not find a Golden Ticket to tour Wonka's factory due to not being able to buy as many chocolate bars. Charlie found a Golden Ticket after it was revealed the previous finder forged a Golden Ticket.

At the end, Willy Wonka was impressed by how well behaved Charlie was and told him he would give him the factory. Ostrum's only acting credit is his role from "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory".

He left acting to become a veterinarian.
2. I was sad when my son fell into the chocolate river in the factory and got sucked to the fudge room. Who portrayed me?

Answer: Ursula Reit

Reit, a native of Wuppertal, Germany, landed the part of Mrs. Gloop. Mrs. Gloop's son, Augustus, was the first person to locate a Golden Ticket that Willy Wonka placed in some chocolate bars and the ticket guaranteed the finder a tour of the factory. While they were waiting outside the factory on the day of the tour, Mrs. Gloop told Augustus not to eat so much of dessert she brought.

After Augustus started eating chocolate from the chocolate river in the factory, he fell in and was sucked up through a pipe to the fudge room. An Oompa Loompa took Mrs. Gloop to retrieve her son there. Reit had roles in the films "She Devils of the SS", "In Trouble" and "Three Men in the Snow".
3. I accompanied Charlie to Willy Wonka's factory. Which actor played me?

Answer: Jack Albertson

Albertson, born in 1907 in Malden, Massachusetts, got the part of Grandpa Joe. Grandpa Joe tried to make Charlie optimistic that he had a big chance of finding the Golden Ticket because he wanted the ticket more. Grandpa Joe managed to get out of bed when Charlie revealed that he found the ticket and this was his first time of exiting the bed in years.

At one point, Grandpa Joe told Charlie that Veruca was a "nitwit" for not listening to Mr. Wonka. Albertson portrayed characters in the movies "The Poseidon Adventure", "The Subject Was Roses" and "Man of a Thousand Faces".

In 1969, Albertson won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role in "The Subject Was Roses". Other nominees for Best Supporting Actor that year were Daniel Massey for "Star!", "Gene Wilder for "The Producers", Jack Wild for "Oliver!" and Seymour Cassel for "Faces".
4. I told Charlie that, even if he had a sack full of money, he probably would not find a Golden Ticket. Who portrayed me?

Answer: Diana Sowle

Sowle was born on June 19, 1930 and she played Mrs. Bucket. Mrs. Bucket had a dilapidated home where she lived with Charlie's four grandparents as well as Charlie. Mrs. Bucket looked melancholy when Charlie worried what would happen if he did not find a Golden Ticket.

She reminded him that there were only five Golden Tickets in a world with billions of people and would likely not find one if he could buy many Wonka bars with a sack full of money. She also informed him that, when the contest to find the Golden Tickets was done, he would be no different from the millions of kids who did not find one. Mrs. Bucket sang a song in which she encouraged Charlie to cheer up. Sowle only has two other acting credits: roles in the movies "Guarding Tess" and "Clear and Present Danger'.
5. I was Charlie's teacher. Who played me?

Answer: David Battley

Battley, born on November 5th, 1935 in Clapham, London, England, won the small role of Mr. Turkentine. Mr. Turkentine was seen in a few scenes where he was Charlie's teacher. He dismissed his class early when someone alerted them that Willy Wonka hid five Golden Tickets in Wonka bars that would allow the ticket finders to tour the factory. Mr. Turkentine taught a math lesson in connection to the kids purchasing Wonka bars. During the math lesson, Mr. Turkentine found it hard to believe that Charlie would only buy two Wonka bars. Battley appeared in the films "That's Your Funeral", "Mr. Quilp" and "Krull".
6. I taught geography and told Willy Wonka there was no such place as Loompa Land. Which actress played me?

Answer: Nora Denney

Denney, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, played the role of Mrs. Teevee. Mrs. Teevee accompanied her son, Mike, to the factory. In the first room of the factory, Willy Wonka mentioned that he found the Oompa Loompas in Loompa Land and convinced them to live with him at the factory. Mrs. Teevee advised Mr. Wonka that she taught geography and could assure him that Loompa Land was a fictitious place. Near the end of the film, Mrs. Teevee passed out after her son was shrunk. Denney won roles in the movies "Splash", "Get Smart" and "Mr. and Mrs. Bridge".
7. I told Mike Teevee that I had trouble hearing him. Which actor played me?

Answer: Gene Wilder

Wilder, born in 1933 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, landed the titular role of Willy Wonka. For many years, Wonka lived as a recluse as his factory doors had been shut and people wondered how he managed to produce chocolate without opening the factory doors.

When he was first seen on the day of the tour, he did an interesting somersault right before greeting the five Golden Ticket winners. In one scene, Wonka rode in a boat aptly named the Wonkatania, which took the tour guests through an eccentric yet eerie tunnel and, while in the tunnel, Mr. Wonka sang a song. Wilder also starred in the films "The Producers", "Blazing Saddles" and "Young Frankenstein".

Many of Wilder's most ardent fans cite Willy Wonka as their favorite character that Gene Wilder portrayed on the big screen (CAGuy0206 is one of them).
8. I was a bratty child who constantly asked my father for things while in the factory. Which actress played me?

Answer: Julie Dawn Cole

Cole, born on October 26th, 1957 in Guildford, Surrey, England, won the part of Veruca Salt. Veruca was the only one of the ticket finders who did not actually locate the ticket, as her father owned a nut factory and had his workers temporarily halt shelling nuts to look for a Golden Ticket for Veruca.

When Veruca introduced herself to Willy Wonka, she mentioned that she had three other mink coats at home when Mr. Wonka complimented her on her nice outfit. While in the factory, Veruca exuded a very bullying attitude and would often act like a victim when she did not get her way.

Some of the things she asked her father to get for her were an Oompa Loompa and a golden goose. In her final scene, Veruca went down a garbage chute. Cole also starred in the films "The Mill on the Floss", "Molldark" and "And Mother Makes Three". Cole once said that she would call her children "Veruca" whenever they misbehaved as a means to get them to stop acting out.
9. I offered to give Charlie a lot of money and food and comfort for him and his family for the rest of their lives in exchange for an Everlasting Gobstopper. Who played me?

Answer: Gunter Meisner

Meisner, a native of Bremen, Germany, played Mr. Slugworth in a small role. Mr. Slugworth went to all the five Golden Ticket winners and told them he would give them a lot of money, food and comfort for them and their family for the rest of their lives if they gave him Mr. Wonka's Everlasting Gobstopper. Mr. Slugworth claimed to be President of a major chocolate company and feared that Willy Wonka's Everlasting Gobstopper would ruin him.

At the end of the film, Willy Wonka revealed that Mr. Slugworth was actually an employee of his named Mr. Wilkerson. Wonka told Charlie that Mr. Wilkerson was a test to see which of the children was loyal and would not betray him by giving Mr. Wilkerson an Everlasting Gobstopper. Meisner played characters in the movies "Ace of Aces", "In a Glass Cage" and "Night Crossing".
10. I loved to chew gum. Who portrayed me?

Answer: Denise Nickerson

Nickerson, born in 1957 in New York City, portrayed Violet Beauregarde. Violet was the third person to locate a Golden Ticket and claimed in an interview that she chewed gun all day long but switched to eating candy bars once Wonka started his Golden Ticket contest.

When Violet toured the factory, she often fought with Veruca. In her last scene, Willy Wonka gave Violet a piece of gum that tasted like a three course dinner but said he had not perfected it yet. Despite this warning, Violet chewed on the gum and the first course was tomato soup, the second was roast beef with a baked potato and the final course was blueberry pie. Violet then turned blue and her size increased to where she looked like a big blueberry.

The Oompa Loompas took Violet to the juicing room so she could be popped in order to prevent her from exploding. Nickerson appeared in the movies "Zero to Sixty", "Smile" and "The Dark Side of Innocence".
