Earl has one son named Calvin and he loves him very much. We meet Calvin when Earl introduces him to Flint. The child is small and he wears a jacket with fur rim around the collar. Earl always remembers to tell his son that he loves him and Calvin loves him too.

That resonates with Flint, because he also wants that same love from his own father. So he complies and gives Earl's son a multi-scoop extravaganza!

Tim Lockwood speaks to his son in fishing metaphors, probably because he is a fisherman. He tries to give his son wise advice, but Flint gets frustrated and confused because he does not understand fishing metaphors. In the movie, there is a strain in their relationship because Flint cannot understand his dad and, thanks to Flint's numerous unusual inventions in the past, he feels his dad does not really believe in his skill to be a great inventor.

Sam Sparks is a weather-reporter intern for Weather News Network. Her cameraman is Manny and her jerk co-anchor is Patrick, who often makes fun of her for slip-ups and bloopers. For example, when she is reporting for the first time in Swallow Falls, Flint flies into her on his wild food making machine that ascends into the sky.

However, Sam's face crashes into the camera lens and that makes her look all goofy. Patrick then makes a joke at Sam's expense saying, "Whoa, we will get back to her when she is more attractive." And he switches the camera off of her onto a kitten playing in the field.

Before becoming a cameraman for the weather station, he tells Sam that his home country is Guatemala. We also learn that he practiced a different profession there as well!

Now the town of Chew and Swallow is seemingly in ruins. There is food everywhere and there is a spaghetti and meatball twister heading their way! Earl's son is suffering a tummy ache from eating too much junk food. Sam asks for a doctor for Earl's son and Manny says he is a doctor, who came from his home country to Chew and Swallow to find a better life. I wonder if he regrets that decision now? Anyway, he checks Earl's son for any more symptoms then cracks a piece of celery over the boy's nose to awaken him to the smell of fresh, non-processed food.

His son is okay, but then the poor boy vomits over his dad's shoulder!

Answer: the Port-a-Dump

Flint chooses this discreet transporter to deliver himself and his visitors to his secret lab where his inventions, giant computer and pet monkey Steve call home.

Answer: Gummy Bears

Steve loves Gummy Bears and asks Flint to make some rain out of the sky for him. But Flint refuses and tells him that he knows how Steve gets around Gummy Bears. We later witness Steve attacking the Gummy Bears and ripping them apart like a madman when those Gummy Mutants are trying to destroy Flint's flying car with Steve and Manny in it.

Answer: A giant jello mold with a bunch of goodies in it

Even though Sam does not request the jello mold, Flint makes it for her because he likes her and wants to get close to her and know her better. Then, Flint learns about her when she was a child, and that she was a born an intellectual just like him. She also did an impressive show and tell project that caused her ridicule as her classmates called her "Four eyes, four eyes, you need glasses to see!"

Flint does not want them to see how he creates the satellite to communicate with the food making machine. So he distracts them with that silly video for a surprising total of three hours!
