According to IMDB's list, this is the first movie role for Jeff Goldblum. In "Death Wish" Paul Kersey never catches him or the other two who broke into his home, and neither do the police.

Jeff has had over 100 movie and television roles. He has been nominated for the Academy Award for producing a short film in 1996 named "Little Surprises" but did not win. He portrayed Ernie Kovacs in "Ernie Kovacs: Between The Laughter (1984),Seth Brundle in "The Fly" (1986), and David Levinson in "Independence Day" (1996).

He really wants to catch the vigilante, but the Police Commissioner and the District Attorney know that they will not be able to prosecute the vigilante since the public view him as a hero. This is why he tells Paul to get out of town, instead of arresting him. Inspector Ochoa is also in "Death Wish II".

Christopher Guest is an actor, producer, and writer. He married Jamie Lee Curtis in 1984. One of his most memorable roles was in the parody, 'This Is Spinal Tap', (1984) which he co-wrote with Michael McKean, Harry Shearer, and Rob Reiner. Christopher Guest's father was Peter Haden-Guest, an English Baron.
