Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A gargantuan creature with one eye terrorizes New York City at the start of the film. It happens during which of these events, attended by Doctor Strange?

Answer: A wedding

Stephen Strange and America Chavez flee through space and time, leaping across extra-dimensional debris to escape a demon and reach the Book of Vishanti. Strange nearly manages to seal the monster away long enough for them to pass, but an injury to the leg is enough to harm and distract him. Strange, realizing what he must do to save the Multiverse, starts to kill America but he is stopped when the demon impales him through the back. America, dodging the creature's tendrils as long as she can, manages to create a portal and Stephen, with his dying action, slices the beast enough to let himself and America pass through.

Stephen Strange awakens from an awful dream and prepares for his day. He makes his way to the wedding of his former girlfriend, Christine, and he reminisces on what he lost, not only in his time becoming the Sorcerer Doctor Strange, but during the Blip. He apologizes to her for things not working out and expresses his regrets, but Christine is realistic about the circumstances. She tells him it never would have worked out; he was always the one who had to be holding the knife.

As the wedding reception continues, Strange hears the commotion outside, finding an extradimensional being terrorizing the city, trying to break into a city bus to get at someone inside. Strange, jumping into action, finds the girl familiar as he saves her from the beast though he can't figure out why. Fortunately, Wong is able to step in and assist, allowing the pair to bring the being down. Strange can't even ask her a question before the girl runs away.
2. Strange originally locates Wanda Maximoff in which of these locations, revealed to be a hex that she created using the powers of the Darkhold?

Answer: An orchard

Though America tries to run, Strange and Wong have their ways and they find her almost immediately. Sitting the pair down for lunch, she tells them about Strange's dream which, to his surprise, actually happened in an alternate universe. She admits to being from another distant universe but there's also a distinct reason the creature was after her, specifically because it wanted to kidnap her on behalf of another supernatural demon to steal her power. America, to their surprise, has the uncanny ability to traverse the Multiverse and she was close to getting the Book of Vishanti, long fabled to be non-existent.

She's able to prove all of this too, specifically by showing the corpse of her universe's Stephen Strange, left on the roof of a city building. Strange prepares to bury his counterpart's body when he and Wong realize that the runes on the creature they fought have little to do with their personal magic, but instead with witchcraft.

It's because of these runes that Strange is convinced to pay a visit to Wanda Maximoff who, since fabricating her idyllic town of Westview, situated herself in a cozy orchard home. Strange confronts her about the Multiverse and asks her to join him in helping on this mission-- they can use another strong Avenger-- by heading to the Kamar-Taj. She asks him, instead, to bring America to the orchard as she would be safe there, but it's an easy tell-- both Wanda and Strange realize he never said America's name. Wanda removes her hex and reveals the truth behind her little plot of land-- she and it have been corrupted by the Darkhold and she was the one looking for America. She could take the girl's powers, leave their reality, and find one with her children still alive. She tells Strange to return to Kamar-Taj and bring America by sundown; if they don't, the Scarlet Witch will come for her.
3. Wanda is able to free herself from the Mirror Dimension using which of these?

Answer: Reflections

When Strange returns to Kamar-Taj, there's little to do but fortify the home of the sorcerers to protect themselves from the expected invasion of the powerful Scarlet Witch, known to have enhanced powers with the Darkhold in her possession. As the clouds roll in over the mountains, they take to their posts and let the darkness set over them. Strange flies up to meet Wanda and she stands her ground, suggesting that if he give over this girl he met only a day before, she would be able to send him to a world in which he could be with Christine. It's not enough for Strange, though; the Kamar-Taj arms themselves. With Wanda's patience exhausted she starts to cast her magic, colliding with the magical barrier held between her and Strange. It seems to hold until she gets into one of the sorcerers' heads, convincing him to run and weakening the shield enough to bring it down. Her power proves much too strong.

As Wanda advances into the building she steps onto a trap and Strange is able to lure her into the Mirror Dimension. It's not enough, however. When Strange attempts to make a portal out of Kamar-Taj, he finds he can't as Wanda is able to manipulate reflections to attack the other sorcerers and crawl her way into their safe room. She asks one more time for him to hand over America so that she can see her children in the flesh like she sees them through the Darkhold's magic. Strange has to ask, however: when she finds her boys, what will she do to their real mother?

Wanda is nearly able to extract America's powers entirely but America is pushed to create a new portal, one that Strange is able to knock her and himself into to flee across the Multiverse and escape the Scarlet Witch. At least for now.
4. Strange and America, passing through the Multiverse, end up in another version of what location?

Answer: New York

Strange and America wind up in another universe's version of New York City, landing atop a skyscraper to find they're somewhat trapped. Though Strange suggests they find this world's version of America and seek her advice on how to harness the multiversal powers, America notes there is no such person; she's the only one of herself.

They instead opt to go searching for another version of Strange only to find that the one from this universe gave his life to fight Thanos. The master of the New York Sanctum, as they find, is this universe's Karl Mordo. At the very least, this Mordo is one that welcomes Strange, quite unlike the one Strange had to stop in his own world. They head inside and Strange explains the situation involving the Scarlet Witch and Mordo seems to understand, partly because there is a version of the Darkhold in his universe as well. He fears that Wanda may be stronger than they believe as with the book's powers she can dreamwalk, possessing the body of another self in another universe, and with that she can puppeteer a doppelganger.

Strange believes that if he can get his hands on the Book of Vishanti he can combat this awful magic, but when he rises to take his leave, he and America find that they have been sedated. It is they, Mordo insists, that put his universe at risk.
5. The Darkhold, it is revealed, was a copy of spells previously found on Mount Wundagore. Wanda journeys there alone.

Answer: False

Wanda uses the Darkhold to dreamwalk, teleporting her consciousness to another universe and allowing her to locate her children, alive and well, while her true self remains in her original world. While Wong remains restrained nearby, Sara Wolfe, having survived the siege on Kamar-Taj, sneaks into Wanda's chamber and grabs the Darkhold, stabbing through it and destroying it. Though she succeeds in severing Wanda's tie to the other universe, the Scarlet Witch burns her alive and urges Wong to replace the book. To save his remaining sorcerers, he reveals that the Darkhold was a copy the spells of the book were transcribed from the walls found on Mount Wundagore. It's there she can find what she needs, though no one has survived the journey. She insists that, perhaps, they will be the first.

Strange and America, meanwhile, awaken in protective cells and cuffs that restrict his magic use. It's to Strange's shock that the scientists experimenting on the two of them (and his cloak) are led by this universe's version of Christine, who insists that they're there for testing and that, having come from Universe-616, they may pose a threat to their current location, Universe-838. The real clincher is that Christine knows a lot more about the Multiverse than most, having taken up her role at Strange's funeral. She has no compulsion against putting him up in front of the Illuminati, who will put him up for trial immediately.
6. Who of these is not part of Earth-838's Illuminati?

Answer: Scott Lang

Wong and Wanda teleport themselves to a mountaintop near Mount Wundagore and Wanda flies them the rest of the way, bringing the two of them into its cold, forsaken corridors. The dark magics found there, carved into its walls, were transcribed into the Da khold, and it may be that soulless monstrosities lie within the castle. There are, as they find, but the creatures stand down when they see the Scarlet Witch. It is, as they find, not a tomb. Mount Wundagore is a throne for her. She casts Wong off the cliffside and begins to utilize her magic, returning to Universe-838.

Doctor Strange is brought into a chamber in Earth-838's Central Park to stand before the Illuminati, a tribunal of this universe's heroes comprised of Karl Mordo, Captain Peggy Carter (the First Avenger), Black Bolt, Captain Marvel (actually Maria Rambeau on Earth-838), and Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four. They are there, having been assembled by 838's own Doctor Strange to make difficult decisions, to determine what must become of this dangerous new Doctor Strange. Before they make their vote, however, their final member, capping off the tribunal, enters the room. Professor Charles Xavier informs him that 838's Strange may have been more dangerous than their world let on, and it's because of this that they can't leave this new Strange alive. The Scarlet Witch would, otherwise, be of little concern.
7. None of the Illuminati are able to stop Wanda Maximoff with their powers.

Answer: True

The Illuminati inform Strange-616 that Strange-838, in an effort to fight Thanos alone, turned to the Darkhold and was corrupted by it, inadvertently destroying another universe while dreamwalking and forcing his former companions to stop him, doing so by locating the Book of Vishanti. Xavier uses his powers to show Stephen what happened; after they defeated Thanos, the tribunal killed an understanding Strange-838 but kept him a hero in the world's eyes.

When Strange hears the truth, an alarm sounds in the Illuminati building. Wanda, having once again inhabited the body of her alternative universe self, arrives to retrieve America. While the rest of the Illuminati head out to intercept, Professor Xavier tells Strange that, should he escape the chamber, he should save the girl; it could be that another Strange might not be as problematic as their own. It helps, he explains, that they have a copy of the Book of Vishanti, having used it. As Xavier departs to deal with the threat, Mordo attacks Strange, having never really sided with him, and Strange is able to use the opportunity to get the upper hand and escape.

As Wanda nears the laboratory, destroying Ultron robots along the way, the Illuminati stands in the way of the chamber. Wanda deftly destroys all who stand in her way, gruesomely disposing of Earth-838's strongest heroes. Professor Xavier, the last stand of the Illuminati, infiltrates Wanda's mind and attempts to save her innocent self from within, but this proves to be a trap. She snaps his neck and puts an end to the vision.

It is enough time, however, for Christine to free America from her cell.
8. Strange manages to collect the Book of Vishanti in the Gap Junction, but what is used to open the gateway to this realm?

Answer: A wristwatch

America, Christine, and the Cloak of Levitation reunite with Strange and they make their way to the waypoint that Strange-838 created to link Earth-838 to the Book of Vishanti. Though Christine is reluctant to help, America convinces her that Stephen-616 isn't like the others. They descend into the tunnels beneath the river with Wanda in close pursuit and Stephen breaks the tunnel open to give them more time. It's just enough for them to reach the gate and open their route into the realm between the universes, the Gap Junction, and directly to the book.

Strange retrieves the Book of Vishanti, but only moments before Wanda grabs America, destroys the book in Strange's hands, and sends him and Christine hurtling elsewhere in the Multiverse. She opens a portal to Mount Wundagore on Earth-616 and tosses America in, leaving her 838 self to return home.

Strange and Christine end up in a completely new universe, and it's one that's collided with another, creating a destructive incursion. Strange determines their best course of action; they'll head to this world's Sanctum and find another other other Strange to assist them. The new Strange they find, however, is another that was in possession of the Darkhold. This Strange warns him away, revealing a third eye created by the evil book, but Strange-616 knows it's the only way-- he needs to fight for the Darkhold to get home.
9. To claim the Darkhold, Doctor Strange fights an evil version of himself with which of these?

Answer: Musical notes

The other world's Strange indicates that there is a heavy toll to be paid by anyone who uses the Darkhold, but Strange-616 fights nonetheless, commencing an otherworldly battle using empowered musical notes that ends with the evil Strange being cast from the upper floor of the Sanctum and impaling on a spiked fence outside. As Christine rushes to this Strange's aid, its third eye opens to stare at her.

In Earth-616, Wong awakens, having landed on a cliff edge not far below the castle atop Mount Wundagore. He begins the arduous climb up. In the throne room above, Wanda begins sapping the powers from America's body.

Strange-616 opens the Darkhold and starts to use its magic to find his way back home. Christine suggests that his eagerness to dreamwalk only indicates that all Stranges are the same, ready to take any power they can to get ahead. There's no other way, he says, to save America, and Christine must remain there to protect his body from the souls of the damned.

And with that, Strange dreamwalks back to Earth-616, inhabiting the body of the Stephen Strange he buried in New York City who came to his world with America. He opens the portal to Mount Wundagore and is almost instantly overtaken by the souls of the damned, all of whom promise consequences, but Christine manages to keep him from going too far under. She goes hand-to-hand against the ghouls, utilizing the Sanctum's relics to protect the two of them, and on Earth-616, the corpse of Stephen Strange binds the souls into a demonic cloak and flies to the mountain, through its protectors, as Wong reunites with him. The two of them bind Wanda with their magic, but only for so long. Strange tells America to believe in her power...and the Scarlet Witch breaks free.
10. Who destroys the Darkhold, wiping it out across the Multiverse?

Answer: Wanda

The Scarlet Witch destroys corpse Strange and knocks Wong aside as America uses her newfound confidence to deal a punch that opens a portal to another world. Wanda, taken aback by this, manages to fight back, however, and America decides to give Wanda what she wants. With one more look into the Multiverse, she opens a passage to the Westview home on Earth-838, directly into the living room occupied by her two children. Wanda-838 comes downstairs to protect her boys, but the encounter proves to be a terrifying one. The boys, scared by the evil version of their mother, beg her not to hurt them, and with that the damage is done. Wanda realizes that she has become the monster, to them, that she feared would harm them. As she falls to her knees, Wanda-838 comforts the fallen hero, giving her the strength she needs to tear away from the evil influence of the Darkhold.

As America seals the portal to Earth-838 and leaves with Wong, she vows she'll find Stephen, wherever he is. They return to Kamar-Taj while Strange watches on. Using her powers, Wanda destroys the castle atop Mount Wundagore, razing it to the ground around her and perishing in the destruction to spare anyone from falling to its strength ever again. Her act destroys the Darkhold in every universe.

Strange and Christine part ways, knowing they must, though Strange admits his love to her-- to all of her-- in every universe. In the days to come, the sorcerers commence reconstruction of Kamar-Taj while America starts to learn sorcery amongst their ranks.

Back in New York, Strange repairs the broken watch gifted to him by Christine and stows it away. He heads out into the streets, but falls to his knees and cries out in pain as a mysterious third eye opens upon his forehead.
