Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What name was the killer dubbed in the 2011 horror film titled, 'Don't Let Him In'?

Answer: Tree Surgeon

In this English horror film, Calvin and Paige decided to go on a weekend getaway to a cabin, along with Calvin's sister, Emer, and her latest one night stand, Tristan. Everything seemed to go okay, until a stranger named Shawn showed up in need of medical attention. Things started to go very wrong shortly after.

The nickname given to the killer was due to the fact that he liked to sever his victims' body parts and hang them from trees. He explained that the reason for this was his way of "feeding the trees"! This film did a good job keeping the suspense, in my opinion, since it kept you guessing who the real killer was!
2. What was the name of the 1973 thriller that starred Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie as a couple who were told by a blind clairvoyant that their dead daughter was trying to get in contact with them?

Answer: Don't Look Now

While they were staying at their English country home, John and Laura lost their daughter Christine to drowning. They went to Venice and while there, they were told by two elderly sisters (one was psychic) that their daughter was trying to contact her parents to warn them against danger. Nicolas Roeg directed.
3. This 2010 horror film was about a band that camped out in the woods to concentrate on writing new music. Unfortunately for them and their female friends, there was a killer offing them one by one. Name the film.

Answer: Don't Go in the Woods

Vincent D'Onofrio was the writer and director of this horror/musical. There was A LOT of singing by the characters throughout the film, which left little time for the usual grisly murder scenes that one would expect from a film with this title. There was also an ending that may surprise some people.

While I cannot say that I found this film much to my liking, it was different, which did make it easy to remember.
4. This 2011 film that starred Katie Holmes was a remake of a 1973 made for television horror classic that starred Kim Darby. What was the name of this film?

Answer: Don't Be Afraid of the Dark

This film was co-written by Guillermo del Toro. It was about a young girl named Sally who kept seeing creepy little creatures that were inhabiting the new house she just moved into with her dad and his girlfriend. Guy Pearce also starred.
5. Henry Thomas and Eli Roth starred in this 2009 remake of a 1996 Japanese horror film that was directed by Hideo Nakata. Which one?

Answer: Don't Look Up

Fruit Chan directed this remake about a film crew that was filming a movie in Transylvania. They wound up finding some old footage of a woman being murdered. After watching this, the spirit of the woman was released and some very bad supernatural events occurred.
6. This 1980 horror flick was about a man named Donny who was abused by his mother as a child. As a sadistic adult, he took his pent-up hatred of his mother out on unsuspecting women by kidnapping them and burning them to death them with a flamethrower. Name this film.

Answer: Don't Go in the House

Dan Grimaldi played the twisted character of Donald Kohler. This movie has remained banned in several countries due to its violence content, and has also been compared to the 1960 film, 'Psycho'.
7. Which one of these films was directed by Lucio Fulci?

Answer: Don't Torture a Duckling

This 1972 shocker was one of Fulci's most disturbing films. It was about a psycho killer who went around murdering children in Sicily. This film was considered to be a very demented "whodunit" style of cinema.
8. In this 1973 film, a doctor got murdered at a sanitarium on the same day a nurse named Charlotte started her first day of work there. What was the name of this cult classic that was directed by S.F. Brownrigg?

Answer: Don't Look in the Basement

A maniac wielding an ax had killed the head doctor, which wound up putting Dr. Masters in charge. The only problem with that was that this doctor was not who she claimed to be, which unfortunately nurse Charlotte wound up finding out! S.F. Brownrigg also directed the 1979 horror classic, 'Don't Open the Door'.
9. What was the name of a 1974 zombie film that was set in northern England and followed a man and a woman who were suspected of murdering the townspeople?

Answer: Don't Open The Window

While the head police inspector suspected the innocent couple of committing some very violent murders, it turned out the killings were due to a group of flesh eating zombies. Other titles used for this film were 'Let Sleeping Corpses Lie' and 'The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue'. One of the taglines was, "What Ever's Out There Will Wait!".
10. Fill in the blank to complete the rest of this 1981 slasher film title that involved a maniac woodsman that went around stalking and killing victims. It was called, 'Don't Go in the Woods... _____!'.

Answer: Alone

This cult classic came way before the 2010 film of the same name, minus the "Alone" in the title. It was about four camper friends who wound up in great danger due to a psycho who was killing people in the woods, which was an obvious similarity to several other "slasher in the woods" type films that were released around the same time.
