This film is set in 1971 in Salford, my hometown, which is in Manchester, England. George Khan moved to Salford in 1937 and soon met Ella, who became his wife and the bearer of his children. George would prefer to live in Bradford, but Ella doesn't like the idea of living there so they stay in Salford.
