Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Has Loretta kidnapped

Answer: Abigail Fairfax

Loretta Sage is a widowed romance novelist who has become rather reclusive since the death of her husband. Her publisher has pushed her into a starting a new book tour but the first event doesn't go well. Loretta calls for her car and when one pulls up she moves forward to ask if it is for her. Men jump out of the car and force her in. She is taken to meet Abigail ("It's an androgynous name.") of the crazily rich Fairfax family. Loretta studied ancient languages and Abigail has a parchment he wants her to translate for him.
Abigail is very eccentric and more than a little bit bitter about being passed over, by his father, to take over the mantel of the family business, in favour of his younger brother. He seeks to find the Crown of Fire, about which Loretta has written.
Abigail is played by Daniel Radcliffe.
2. Owns a jet

Answer: Abigail Fairfax

When Loretta declines to go with him to where he claims to have found The Lost City of D, written about in Loretta's newest book, Abigail offers to give her a lift. The wall behind them disappears, revealing a very cool jet, which Abigail admits is his. Explaining that the island that The Lost City (of D), which he has purchased half of, is in danger of being buried by lava from a volcano that is showing signs of erupting soon, Abigail explains that they haven't got much time to find the Crown of Fire and uses chloroform to get Loretta onto the plane. The island is called Isla Hundida, which means Sunken Island.
3. Is hired to rescue Lorretta from The Lost City

Answer: Jack Trainer

Alan, who is Loretta's books cover model Dash, sees the car carrying a kidnapped Loretta pull away and tries, unsuccessfully, to pursue. He gets Loretta's publisher, Beth, and the police involved and then hits upon the idea of calling a specialist in the field, Jack Trainer, whom he once met, to help. Trainer quickly determines the way of finding Loretta, by tracking her Smart Watch through her phone, which had been taken away from her by Beth before the book launch. Loretta is determined to be on a plane over the ocean. Trainer agrees to meet Alan where they land so that Alan can give him her phone. Trainer doesn't want Alan coming with him on the rescue but relents, making Alan promise to stay in the car, which he doesn't.
When Loretta first meets Trainer she keeps staring at him and finally asks why he is so handsome. He replies, "My father was a weatherman."
They get Loretta, still strapped to a chair, to Trainer's rented car when he is taken out by a shot in the head, causing his blood and some of his brains to spray over Alan.
Jack Trainer is played by Brad Pitt.
4. Utters the line "Shh, you're safe now." first to Loretta

Answer: Jack Trainer

Alan desperately wants to be part of Loretta's rescue while Jack is skeptical of how useful he will be. Alan asks if he can at least say the line "Shh, you're safe now", and Jack agrees that he can.
However once they get Loretta (still bound to a chair) to the car, Jack says it first, causing Alan to protest that that was his line. Shortly thereafter Jack is shot and Alan takes off, driving the car. He then tries to repeat the line to Loretta who protests, quite correctly, that she isn't safe.
5. Picks leeches off of a bum

Answer: Loretta Sage

Alan Caprison (played by Channing Tatum) is the cover model for Loretta's books, portraying the hero of her stories, Dash McMahon. He is a large source of Loretta's frustration because whenever they have appeared publicly together, fans showed more interest in 'Dash' than Loretta, wanting him to rip off his shirt. He also has difficulty distinguishing the fantasy with the reality. He does see himself as Dash and Loretta as Dr. Angela Lovemore (female lead in the books).
At one point, when escaping the Lost City, they are wading through water to throw their pursuers off their track. When they emerge Loretta notices a leech on Alan's back and he is totally grossed out. He drops his pants for her to see if there are any on his bum, and there are a few. She picks them off and he turns around so she can see if there are any on his front. There are not but she drops a few comments about expecting but not expecting what she sees!
Loretta is played by Sandra Bullock.
6. Trades a watch for a motorcycle

Answer: Alan Caprison

Alan and Loretta have made it to a small village where they report their situation to the local police. In a scene reminiscent of one from "Romancing the Stone" (1984) they share a dance and things are looking good for a little romance when Abigail and his henchmen show up (apparently the police notified him of Loretta's presence). They grab Loretta and take her away in an armoured vehicle.
Desperate to rescue her, Alan runs through the village asking if anyone has a car they will exchange for a watch. One man offers a motorcycle and Alan takes up pursuit on that.
Alan is played by Channing Tatum.
7. Has a goat named Randy

Answer: Oscar

Loretta's publisher, Beth, is trying to complete her own rescue of Loretta who is supposed to be on a book tour that Beth organised. We see her arranging for flights to the island where Loretta's smart watch has been located, on increasingly smaller flights. Her last flight is called a puddle-jumper but is cancelled due to pilot absence.
Beth is pretty close to losing it, listing all the things she'd rather be doing but stating that she had to find her friend. Oscar overhears her rant and mentions that he too likes steak (one of the things Beth said she would like to be eating). She is not receptive to his advances but becomes more receptive when he says he has a plane and will take her where she needs to go.
On the plane Beth learns (while the plane is being guided by auto-pilot) that the goat is Oscar's best friend that he talks to as if they understand each other.
Oscar is played by Oscar Nunez.
8. Determines what The Ruby Crown is made of

Answer: Loretta Sage

With information from the parchment Abigail Fairfax kidnapped her to have translated, and writings on a wall, Loretta determines where the resting place of the king and queen is. Fairfax forces Alan (who has been recaptured) and Loretta to take them there.
The tomb is opened and Fairfax is furious as he expected the Crown of Fire to be made of rubies, which it obviously is not. Loretta reads from the wall inscription the history of the courtship between Kalaman (the king) and Taha, during which he brought her a rare red shell every single day for a year whereupon she agreed to marry him. The shells were made into a crown which was on the corpse's head.
Incensed, Fairfax orders Alan and Loretta to get into the tomb, while the island's volcano is erupting around them. One of his henchmen, who is a local and strongly disapproves of Fairfax's behaviour, slips the crowbar into the tomb. This is what eventually allows them to escape. This same henchman takes Fairfax's boat, leaving him behind.
9. Is on police boat that rescues them

Answer: Beth Hatten

Beth is nothing if not determined. Upon finally arriving at the island where Loretta and Alan are, she bullies two police men, who claim that the place is closed, into searching for her friends. They find Abigail Fairfax on the shore calling for help and claiming to be a victim. They take him onboard and he wraps himself in a blanket.
Having escaped from the tomb, Loretta and Alan swim through an underwater passage and pop up in time for Beth to see them and bring them onboard. Abigail tries to run but, as it is pointed out, he's on a boat so where could he go?
Beth is played by Da'Vine Joy Randolph
10. Appears, unexpectedly, in a mid-credit scene

Answer: Jack Trainer

Jack was shot in the head during Loretta's rescue. Alan had Jack's blood and brains sprayed on him, insisting that some went into his mouth.
After the credits we see Loretta and Alan at a meditation class where they are surprised to find Jack trying to get their attention. They express surprise at the fact that he is still alive, saying that with his head injury they were sure he was dead. He replies that people only use 10% of their brains so he just switched to a different 10%.
