Directed by Wolfgang Petersen and starring a German all-star cast, this movie has been one of the most appreciated contributions of German cinema in the 1980s.

Directed in 1927 by Fritz Lang, arguably the most influential director of the 1920s to 1940s, who fled Germany after the Nazis had taken power.

`The Lost Honor of Katharina Blum´ is a Schloendorff film based on a novel by Heinrich Boell. It depicts the destruction of an innocent woman´s life by German tabloid papers. All other movies are woman´s stories narrated by Rainer Werner Fassbinder, the genius of German post-war cinema.

'Schtonk!' is a cry Charlie Chaplin had used for his parody of Hitler in `The Great Dictator´. It also fits this hilarious parody of German media discovering Nazi nostalgia. Directed by Dieter Wedel, who also directed `Late Show´ and `Rossini´, two other parodies on modern German society. `Der blaue Engel´ of course was Marlene Dietrich in 1930 after a novel of Heinrich Mann, also a satire.
