Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I'm the title character from a movie. Do you know which actor played me? "I'm not the smartest chocolate in the box, but I sure can run!"

Answer: Tom Hanks

The character is of course "Forrest Gump", played by Tom Hanks. The "smartest chocolate in the box" was the big clue here, and of course the sight of Forrest running is one of the key moments in the movie, along with the line "Run, Forrest, Run!". This is one of Tom Hanks most famous roles and won him the Best Actor Oscar in 1994 (his second Best Actor Oscar in a row, after winning for "Philadelphia" in the previous year). "Forrest Gump" also won Best Picture.

Leonardo DiCaprio was on the run in "Catch Me If You Can", and you should also remember Tom Cruise running in "The Firm", but neither of those were title characters and both of them were pretty smart in their respective movies.
2. I'm the title character from a movie. Do you know which actor played me? "I follow four directives: 1) Serve the public trust, 2) Protect the innocent, 3) Uphold the law, 4) Classified."

Answer: Peter Weller

The title character who follows these directives is "Robocop", played by Peter Weller in the 1987 movie. He isn't told the fourth directive until he tries to go against it near the end of the movie. I won't ruin it here! Peter Weller reprised the role in "Robocop 2" before handing over the reins to Robert Burke for the third film in the trilogy.

Mel Gibson and Sandra Bullock have both played cops, in "Lethal Weapon" and "Miss Congeniality" respectively, but they didn't have these sets of directives. Sly Stallone played the title character in "Judge Dredd", but again his directives weren't explicitly laid out in this way.
3. I'm the title character from a movie. Do you know which actor played me? "I should have never got knocked up at my age - I'm only 16! But I'm having the baby, I'll just have to find a nice couple to adopt it."

Answer: Ellen Page

Ellen Page played "Juno", the pregnant teenager in the 2007 film of the same name. Ellen had already starred in the Indie cult film "Hard Candy" and as Kitty Pride in "X-Men: The Last Stand", but it was "Juno" that was to be her breakout role and turn her into one of the young stars of Hollywood.

Arnold Schwarzenegger was pregnant in the 2004 movie "Junior", but I'm pretty sure he was older than 16.
4. I'm the title character from a movie. Do you know which actor played me? "I'm an old codger, retired and living in London, but they killed my best friend and now I want justice!"

Answer: Michael Caine

This describes "Harry Brown" perfectly, played by Michael Caine in the 2009 film. Harry Brown is a retired marine who spends his time looking after his terminally ill wife and playing chess with his only friend, Len. When Len gets murdered and the police tell Harry that there is nothing they can do about it, due to lack of evidence, Harry realises that he will need to take the law into his own hands and see that justice is done.

Michael Caine has been acting since the 1950s and has appeared in well over 100 films, including classic roles in "Alfie", "Get Carter", "Zulu" and of course as Albert, Batman's trusty servant in Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" trilogy.

All of the actors mentioned could be described as old codgers especially in their latter movies, but only one of them plays a title character in a film that matches this storyline.
5. I'm the title character from a movie. Do you know which actor played me? "I met this girl called Lauren the other day, only she said her name wasn't Lauren, it was Sylvia. Then she said that everyone was pretending, and no-one was who they said they were, and everything was fake. Then her Dad came and took her to Fiji. I'm going to go there and find her, if only I could get off this island."

Answer: Jim Carrey

This is one of the key scenes in "The Truman Show". Jim Carrey plays Truman Burbank, who one day discovers that his entire life is a TV show and he has been the unwitting star. Lauren/Sylvia is an extra on the TV show who tries to help Truman see the truth. This is one of Jim Carrey's best loved roles and was a departure from the physical comedy that made his name, in films such as "The Mask" and "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective".

Mentioning the island (Seahaven Island, in Truman's case) made me think of Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio, who have both starred in films largely set on islands (Tom Hanks in "Castaway" and Leo in "The Beach") so they became two of the wrong answers.
6. I'm the title character from a movie. Do you know which actor played me? "I'm a professional hitman, I don't want a kid hanging around. But she's only twelve and they killed her entire family in the flat next door. I should help her."

Answer: Jean Reno

Jean Reno plays the title character in Luc Besson's "Leon" (sometimes called "Leon: The Professional", or just "The Professional"). He is a hitman who takes in 12-year-old Mathilda, played by Natalie Portman in her debut role. Before "Leon", Jean Reno and Luc Besson had already worked together several times, including on the films "The Big Blue" and "Nikita".

John Cusack plays a professional hitman in "Grosse Pointe Blank", but the female lead in that film was Minnie Driver, who was considerably older than twelve.
7. I'm the title character from a movie. Do you know which actor played me? "Her name is Ramona and I'm going to win her over. I just need to beat her seven evil-exes first."

Answer: Michael Cera

This is the 2010 movie "Scott Pilgrim Vs The World". Scott Pilgrim was played by Michael Cera. The film is based on a comic book and draws heavily on video game culture, especially Nintendo.

Before "Scott Pilgrim", Michael Cera was already well known for the films Juno and Superbad, among others.
8. I'm the title character from a movie. Do you know which actor played me? "I love my master, the dear Dr Henry Jekyll, he's so good to me. But now he's got a friend, that strange Edward Hyde. I can't help myself, I'm beginning to fancy him as well!"

Answer: Julia Roberts

Julia Roberts plays "Mary Reilly" in Stephen Frear's 1996 film of the same name. Mary Reilly is a housemade working for Dr Jekyll, who falls in love with both her master, and his mysterious friend Mr Hyde.

Julia Roberts is one of the most well known actresses of her generation, and won the Best Actress Oscar in 2001 for "Erin Brockovich".

Sean Young played Ms Hyde in the 2005 comedy "Dr Jekyll and Ms Hyde".
9. I'm the title character from a movie. Do you know which actor played me? "I work as a janitor at the university but I'm better at maths than anyone there. How do you like them apples?"

Answer: Matt Damon

Matt Damon plays Will Hunting in the 1997 movie "Good Will Hunting". He also co-wrote the film with his co-star, Ben Affleck, winning the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. "How do you like them apples?" is a famous line from the movie, used as a taunt to another college student who got what he deserved.

Russell Crowe plays a mathematical genius in "A Beautiful Mind". Dustin Hoffman plays an autistic savant in the movie "Rain Man".
10. I'm the title character from a movie. Do you know which actor played me? "You think I'm special but really I'm just a very naughty boy."

Answer: Graham Chapman

"He's not the messiah, he's a very naughty boy!". This is of course one of the most famous lines in Monty Python's classic "Life Of Brian". That line was said by Terry Jones, who played Brian's mother, but Brian himself was played by Graham Chapman.

Macaulay Culkin could have been described as a very naughty boy in numerous films back in him child-star days, but the question did of course refer specifically to the Monty Python line, so Macaulay is not the right answer.
