Question 1 of 10
1. It's raining outside, so I've decided to invite some friends over for a Hollywood-style sleepover. It's only early afternoon, so I suggest a rather long movie, since it'll be a while before supper. This particular movie is the first of three installments, and it stars Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins. Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. We're all still a bit stunned from that last movie, so Kate suggests a more light-hearted one to cheer us up. This one stars Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds, and Donald O'Connor. "It's perfect for a rainy day," says Kate. We all agree to watch it because we recently saw the theater version, and we want to see how many similarities there are. Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. Jo thinks we can squeeze one more movie in before supper. She feels like a chick flick. So we watch one about a girl name Elle Woods who follows her boyfriend to Harvard. Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. After that, we decide we should eat some supper, but we can't find anything good in the kitchen. So we pile into two cars and head to the nearest fast food joint. When we finish eating, Corky says that there's a movie in the dollar theater that she wants to see. The movie is based on a true story, and is about a cowboy who rides 3000 miles across the Arabian desert on his faithful horse. Viggo Mortenson stars.

Answer: (one word--it's the horse's name)
Question 5 of 10
5. We leave the movie theater feeling satisfied. Emily says Viggo did a great job. But her favorite actor is still Orlando Bloom, and she thinks we should watch one of his films next. I ask her which one, and she replies, "Come on! The one with pirates and Johnny Depp in it!" I don't hear anyone complain, so I put in the DVD. Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. Rachel, who has been relatively quiet, finally speaks up. "Guys, you know what I feel like watching?" she says. "An animated movie!" We look through our collection and a general favorite is quickly agreed upon. It's about a little clown fish who is captured by a diving dentist.

Answer: (Two Words)
Question 7 of 10
7. We take a little break to change into our pajamas and brush our teeth. When we return to the living room, we see that Brittany has already popped in another Disney animated movie. This one is about a little Hawaiian girl who adopts an alien, thinking he's a dog. Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. Stephanie then suggests a football movie, in which Denzel Washington stars as the coach of a football team. He tries to overcome racism by mixing the black players with the white ones, and he succeeds. Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. "You think that was good?" asks Cassie. "Wait till you see this next one!" She pulls out another Disney movie that features a mostly male cast. The difference is, this one is a musical and stars Christian Bale. It was a flop when it came out in theaters in the early 1990s, but Cassie and I still love it anyway.

Answer: (One Word)
Question 10 of 10
10. It's the crack of dawn. Only Corky, Kiley, and I are still awake (thanks to too much Mountain Dew). "Come on, guys. We can take one more," says Kiley. "How about another Christian Bale movie?" I say a silent prayer that Kiley isn't wanting to watch "Swing Kids" or "Reign of Fire", since I don't want my dreams (if I get to have any) to be disturbed. But to my utmost delight, Kiley chooses a pirate movie, in which Christian plays a cabin boy turned hero. Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. It's raining outside, so I've decided to invite some friends over for a Hollywood-style sleepover. It's only early afternoon, so I suggest a rather long movie, since it'll be a while before supper. This particular movie is the first of three installments, and it stars Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins.

Answer: The Fellowship of the Ring

"The Fellowship of the Ring" is the first of the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. It's about a hobbit who is appointed the difficult task of destroying a powerful ring. The journey has only begun in this installment, and Frodo, with a few courageous friends, faces evil spirits, hideous monsters, and horrendous betrayal. This movie made almost instant stars of Elijah Wood, Viggo Mortenson, Orlando Bloom, and many others.

Answer: Singin' in the Rain

"Singin' in the Rain" is a great classic. The story centers around some "famous" Hollywood stars, who must learn how to act with their voices when talking pictures become popular in the 1920s. As it turns out, the movie and play have many similarities.
3. Jo thinks we can squeeze one more movie in before supper. She feels like a chick flick. So we watch one about a girl name Elle Woods who follows her boyfriend to Harvard.

Answer: Legally Blonde

"Legally Blonde" is a romantic comedy that stars Reese Witherspoon. Elle is a carefree sorority girl with good grades and lots of friends. But after her boyfriend breaks up with her and takes off for Harvard, she decides she's gonna win him back. So she applies and, amazingly, she makes the cut.

But when she arrives at law school, she finds that her ex-boyfriend already has another girl. Now, she has to prove herself all the more. But who knew that all her girly knowledge about perms, for example, would pay off so well?

Answer: Hidalgo

"Hidalgo" stars Viggo Mortenson, proving once more that he's an awesome actor. In the movie Viggo portrays Frank T. Hopkins, a man who had never lost a long-distance race, but had never quite found himself. Frank struggles with the meaning of being an American as he watches the natives, his people, being persecuted.

He takes on another race, this time in the scorching deserts of the Middle East. While there, he faces weather extremes, treacherous fellow riders, false accusations, and people trying to kill his horse.

Answer: Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

"Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" is one of the only good pirate movies around. It's by far the best on my list. It stars Orlando Bloom as the valiant, young blacksmith who sets out on a quest to save the love of his life from pirates.

He enlists the help of the former pirate captain of the Black Pearl, who is portrayed by Johnny Depp. Keira Knightley and Geoffrey Rush also star.
6. Rachel, who has been relatively quiet, finally speaks up. "Guys, you know what I feel like watching?" she says. "An animated movie!" We look through our collection and a general favorite is quickly agreed upon. It's about a little clown fish who is captured by a diving dentist.

Answer: Finding Nemo

Disney and Pixar prove themselves worthy once again with "Finding Nemo". Personally, I think this is one of the best animated films out there. And from the looks of the box office when "Finding Nemo" was in theaters, millions of other people agree.
7. We take a little break to change into our pajamas and brush our teeth. When we return to the living room, we see that Brittany has already popped in another Disney animated movie. This one is about a little Hawaiian girl who adopts an alien, thinking he's a dog.

Answer: Lilo and Stitch

"Lilo and Stitch" is another Disney tale that's bound to be a classic. One part actually made me cry. It's the perfect example of loving someone, even if they're much different than you.
8. Stephanie then suggests a football movie, in which Denzel Washington stars as the coach of a football team. He tries to overcome racism by mixing the black players with the white ones, and he succeeds.

Answer: Remember the Titans

"Remember the Titans" is yet another one of my favorite movies. Denzel Washington sports his talent again, this time playing the role of a coach who defines the meaning of tough love. He teaches the boys what it means to be a team, and together they overcome racism in the early 1970s.

Answer: Newsies

"Newsies" is about a group of New York newsboys who strike against higher newspaper prices. They fight Joseph Pulitzer, the greedy owner of the New York "World" paper. Pulitzer is played by Robert Duvall, and Christian Bale is the leader of the Manhattan newsies. Ann-Margaret, Bill Pullman, and David Moscow also star.

Answer: Treasure Island

Many versions of "Treasure Island" have been made, but I personally think this one is the best. It was made around 1990, and Christian Bale plays Jim Hawkins, the cabin boy who overhears a villianous plot to over-throw his friends. He warns them in time, but an attack still ensues.
