Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What actor portrays Anton Felix Schindler in the movie?

Jeroen Krabbe originally auditioned for the part of Ludwig van Beethoven, but after being cast in the role of Schindler, he felt it was a much better part for him, and enjoyed portraying him immensely.
2. When stumbling across Ludwig's last will and testimony, who does Schindler set out to find?

3. According to Giulietta, who was she to Ludwig?

Answer: The great love of Beethoven

Giulietta Giucciardi was such an interesting character in the movie. Her role was portrayed by the exotic actress, Valeria Golino, who is probably more well known for her role as Tom Cruise's spunky girlfriend in the 1988 hit movie "Rain Man."
4. Who does Giulietta mistake for Ludwig van Beethoven?

5. What disability did Ludwig suffer from?

Answer: Deafness

It is believed that Beethoven's deafness was caused by the bones in his ears welding together. This in turn awarded him with perfect pitch, but in the long run destroyed his hearing entirely. It was a bitter sweet blessing which haunted him until his death.
6. What does Ludwig say is going out of style because too many are ending up in baskets at the bottom of the guillotine?

During Schindler's visit to Anna Marie they find a strong bond between one another. "They're such a cute couple!"
9. Who does Anna Marie lose in Napoleon's attack on Vienna?

In this scene Ludwig storms into Casper's home demanding he give him his sketches of a piece in the making. Casper tries to explain that he gave them back to him. Ludwig doesn't buy it and starts to curse at Casper's wife Johanna, accusing her of throwing them away.

The two brothers begin to fight. It ends when Casper falls over and starts bleeding from the mouth. Ludwig now realizes that his brother is dying of consumption. Another quick note, pertaining to the symphony, it is the only Beethoven symphony with five movements.

It is also one of his shortest symphonies, second only to the 5th symphony.

This is Ludwig's way of getting back at Johanna for marrying his brother Casper.

Answer: "Moonlight" Sonata

It is absolutely the most haunting part in the movie. Ludwig places the head board of the piano horizontally, then starts pounding nonsense away at the keys.
