Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What type of business was the title character "Johnny Dangerously" working at in the opening scene of the film?

Answer: A pet shop

The lead character of "Johnny Dangerously" was played by Michael Keaton. In the opening scene, a young boy tries to sneak out of his pet store with a puppy. Johnny catches him and reprimands him for stealing. The boy doesn't want to hear it. Johnny then sits the boy down to tell him the story about his career as a criminal mob boss to try and teach him a lesson.
2. Johnny "Dangerously" Kelly started working for the mob when he was just a young boy. What initially led Johnny to turn to a life of crime?

Answer: He needed money to pay off his mother's medical bills

Johnny's mother made a living doing nothing but laundry. When Johnny was a child, his mother developed an illness for which she needed to have an operation. The operation cost nearly fifty dollars. Mob boss Jocko Dundee (Peter Boyle) had offered Johnny a job after seeing him fight off his rival Danny. Johnny decides to take the job to pay for his mom's operation. Johnny remains in the gang and later becomes the boss after Dundee retires.
3. Danny Vermin was a childhood rival of Johnny Dangerously. Later, he ended up joining the same gang as Johnny. What was his signature weapon?

Answer: .88 Magnum

Danny Vermin (Joe Piscopo) was a text book criminal. He had been Johnny's rival ever since they were both paperboys. Danny attempted to take over Johnny's street corner, but Johnny fought back. Later Danny would join the Dundee gang as well. His signature weapon was an .88 Magnum revolver which had a ridiculously long barrel.

It could "shoot through schools." He was also eligible to park in handicapped parking spaces, since he was psychotic.
4. Tommy Kelly was Johnny's younger brother. What job did Tommy end up getting, which led him into conflict with Johnny?

Answer: District Attorney

The two Kelly brothers went off on very different career paths. Johnny made a career out of causing crime, while Tommy (Griffin Dunne) made a career out of fighting crime. Tommy ends up becoming the District Attorney and discovers his brother's involvement with organized crime.

He goes all out to bring his brother to justice, while at the same time Johnny tries to go 'legit', but ends up getting framed by a vindictive Danny Vermin.
5. What was the name of the rival mob boss of Jocko Dundee? He had a fake Italian accent and had a tendency to butcher the English language.

Answer: Roman Moronie

Roman Moronie (Richard Dimitri) was a mob boss who was the arch rival of Jocko Dundee and his gang. The two groups often came to blows when they met and Johnny always had to watch his back for any of Moronie's assassins. Roman Moronie spoke with a fake Italian accent and would often mispronounce many English words, especially when he was swearing.
6. Late comedian Dom DeLuise made a cameo appearance in the movie "Johnny Dangerously". What role did he have in the film?

Answer: The Pope

Despite being involved in a crime organization, Johnny had gained a good reputation amongst his neighbors. They helped to keep his true identity hidden from his mother and brother. Dom DeLuise played the role of the Pope, who also looked to keep Johnny's identity a secret... after Johnny had given him a 'very' generous donation.
7. One of the running gags of "Johnny Dangerously" was an elderly newspaper salesman who is struck three times in the head by a stack of newspapers. Which of the following does not happen to him after getting hit?

Answer: He gets a black eye

On three separate occasions throughout the film an old blind man working at a newsstand gets whacked in the head by a stack of newspapers thrown from a delivery truck. The first time he gets hit it restores his eyesight. The second time he gets hit, his sight remains, but he then goes deaf. When he gets hit the final time, his hearing returns, but he can no longer remember who he is.
8. When Tommy discovers that Danny Vermin had been framing his brother, he tells Danny that he intends to bring him to justice. Danny then develops a plan to assassinate Tommy. Where does Danny plan to carry out the assassination?

Answer: At a movie theater

Danny Vermin discovered that Johnny and Tommy were brothers and attempted to screw over Johnny by framing him for murder. Danny takes a cigarette case Johnny inherited from Mr. Dundee, which was proof of Johnny's innocence. When Tommy discovers that Danny possessed the cigarette case he vowed to send Danny to the electric chair. Danny then plots to assassinate Tommy while he's attending a gangster movie with the governor. Danny disguises himself as a theater employee and hides behind the screen when he goes to take his shot.
9. Johnny manages to escape prison to try and save his brother. His getaway car was covered in several sheets of shelf paper which was ripped off when police spotted the vehicle. What was the design on one of the layers of paper?

Answer: Duckies and bunnies

Johnny was sent to prison after he was framed. While on the inside, he receives information that his brother was in danger. One of his friends disguises himself as a priest and helps Johnny escape with a fake gun. Johnny's getaway car was covered in several layers of shelf paper which was stripped off whenever he and his friends were spotted. One of the layers features duckies and bunnies on it, which leaves the police dispatcher dumbfounded when he announces it over the radio.
10. Which of these events does not happen at the end of "Johnny Dangerously"?

Answer: Johnny takes a bullet for Tommy

At the end of the film, Danny Vermin took a shot at Tommy. Johnny arrives and fires back at the movie screen and hits Vermin. Tommy ended up getting hit, but he had Johnny's cigarette case in his pocket which stopped the bullet. Danny survives and Tommy has him arrested. Meanwhile, Johnny is granted a full pardon by the governor.

He asks his girlfriend Lil (Marilu Henner) if she wants to start a family with him and she accepts his proposal. In the pet shop, the puppy thief has finally seen the error of his ways after listening to Johnny's story.

As he leaves the shop, Johnny allows him take home a free kitten. He then drives off in a luxury car with Lil.
