When the movie begins we see Juno walking through a park, drinking a gallon of Sunny Delight. We then discover this is so that she can take yet another pregnancy test. This is the third pregnancy test that Juno has taken but she still refuses to believe that she is pregnant.

Juno blames the chair for her pregnancy due to the fact that the pregnancy occurred one night when there was nothing on television. She removes it to Paulie's front lawn, with the help of her best friend Leah (when her parents are throwing it out), so that she can tell him about the baby.

She sits on this chair a few times throughout the movie, when we see her talking to Paulie in flashbacks.

Leah has fallen in love with her Chemistry teacher. Throughout the movie we see her flirting with him. Juno thinks that Leah's infatuation with teachers is disgusting and that she shouldn't be flirting with them.

Paulie's only vice is Tic Tacs and he eats them all the time. After Paulie and Juno have a fight, because Paulie isn't taking Juno to the prom, Juno fills his mailbox up with Tic Tacs. She then writes "check the mail" on his front porch.

Juno finds an ad from Mark and Vanessa in the "Penny Saver". She chooses them to adopt her baby because of their normal looking picture and non-sappy ad. We learn from the first meeting that Vanessa is obsessed with things being ordered and clean.

Paulie is on the Cross Country team and throughout the movie we see him running with the pack across the town. At the end of the movie we see Juno and Paulie singing a song together, while they are doing this the Cross Country team passes them, showing that Paulie is no longer part of the pack.

We find out about Mark's love for horror movies one day when Juno drops in on him. Both Mark and Juno share an interest in horror movies and grunge music. Throughout the movie they have debates as to whose favourite bands are better.

After spending a large amount of time together we see that Juno and Mark are getting closer and closer. As they dance together we learn that Mark is going to leave Vanessa, this causes Juno to rethink giving them her baby.

Paulie is not present at the birth because he has a Cross Country competition. When he sees that Juno is not in the crowd he figures out that she has gone into labour. He runs to the hospital to be with her, although by the time he gets there, it is already over. Paulie never sees the baby.

Vanessa does get to keep the baby. The night that she and Mark have a fight Juno drops off a note that says "Vanessa, I'm still in it if you're still in it.". We see Vanessa with the baby and the note is framed and hung where their first family photo would have gone if Mark hadn't left Vanessa. Vanessa does end up painting the baby's room yellow.
